GABF Forced Brewing Fun: Vera

The 2025 Great American Beer Festival competition will include a unique, one-time-only category for brewers to enter. In recognition of the latest hop developed at the United States Department of Agriculture/Agricultural Research Service (USDA/ARS) public hop breeding program in Prosser, Wash., a special category featuring beers brewed with “Vera” (formerly known as W1108-333 or HRC-003) will be judged in the 2025 competition. Brewers United for Freedom of Flavor

After coming together for the better of craft beer in 2003, Sam Calagione (Dogfish Head), Bill Covaleski (Victory Brewing), and Greg Koch (Stone Brewing, now retired) will reunite as Brewers United for Freedom of Flavor (BUFF). For this new one-off event, BUFF will make its return at The Beer Authority in New York City on Thursday, June 26, 2025. Virgin Craft Beer Sets Sail

Sir Richard Branson is a billionaire entrepreneur and the founder of the Virgin Group, a globally recognized brand. In 1970, Branson founded Virgin as a mail-order record company, eventually signing artists such as the Rolling Stones and the Sex Pistols. The Virgin Group has since expanded into many sectors, including travel, banking, health, music, telecommunications, and leisure. And now Virgin has its own branded craft beer, which is currently being contract brewed for them by Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, NY. (American Craft Beer)
