PREFUNK: Happy Veterans Day to all the veterans and current troops serving in our military. Our freedoms, our heritage and the way of life we enjoy today are made possible because of you. As a thank you Peaks and Pints will offer $1 off all pints to veterans and active military, all day! Peaks and Pints also has a Proctor Business District “Start Your Giving Early” veterans giving tree in our little lodge. Charitable souls can pick up ornaments from the tree and make less fortunate veterans’ wishes come true. To give back to those who served their country, take an ornament from the tree, fill the wish and return it to Umpqua Bank at the corner of North 26th and Proctor Street, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25. Other Start Your Giving Early trees are at Proctor Station, Knapp’s Restaurant, America’s Credit Union, Wheelock Library and the Proctor Farmers Market. Stop by these locations, take a paper ornament off the tree identifying items veterans need and bring the item to Umpqua Bank on Nov. 25.

11 A.M. TO 7 P.M. CHAMBERS BAY DISTILLERY RELEASE: Chambers Bay Distillery releases its flagship bourbon, CBD Straight Bourbon Whiskey, today! Aged three-plus years in its floating boathouse, expect one uniquely extraordinary bourbon.

NOON TO CLOSE DENIZENS OF THE DARK: Denizens of the Dark, organized by Wingman Brewers close to the Tacoma Dome, offers a selection of dark, potent and complex craft beers, with beer advocates from all across the region taking notice beginning at noon. It’s easily one of the most anticipated beer events in the South Sound. After a few of these beers you may not care about the November rain or even read the thermometer. Based around the release of the Tacoma brewery’s Stratofortress Belgian Strong Dark Ale and Dark Waters chocolate chili coffee imperial stout, this year sees big and burly beers from other breweries around the country, too.

10 P.M. THE COTTONWOOD CUTUPS: Have a hankering for old timey tonight? Maybe it’s the rain, the flannel shirts and the switch from summer’s gose to autumn’s Scotch ales. Whatever the case, it’s nice. Tacoma’s Cottonwood Cutups are bringing that satisfying pluck and twang and funk to Doyle’s Public House. The three chaps deliver toe-tapping Americana, tickled by mandolin and banjo, with guitar and an upright bass to root it all down.
