Peaks & Pints Thursday Kings & Daughters Flight

Share

Some breweries name their beers after hops, mythical beasts, explosions, or increasingly improbable puns. Kings & Daughters Brewery seems more interested in telling stories. Their tap list reads less like a catalog and more like a weathered notebook left open on a wooden table: Bright As These. Queens & Sons. Tomorrow Comes. Alley Light. Visions of Moher. Each title hints at a place, a memory, a conversation, or a landscape waiting patiently to reveal itself long before the first sip reaches your lips.

That instinct feels entirely appropriate for a brewery tucked beneath the cliffs and orchards of Hood River. Founded by Kyle and Kacie Larsen, Kings & Daughters has become one of the Northwest’s most compelling breweries by balancing modern hop expression with timeless European traditions, allowing craftsmanship to speak louder than spectacle. Every beer possesses confidence without swagger, complexity without complication, inviting you to slow down and discover each layer at its own pace.

Peaks & Pints Thursday Kings & Daughters Flight follows those stories wherever they choose to wander: from the bright optimism of a graceful Kölsch to the welcoming embrace of a soft IPA, onward through the exuberance of a double dry-hopped hazy and the crisp definition of a West Coast IPA before arriving at the windswept Irish coast in a beautifully traditional dry stout. Five beers. Five chapters. One brewery that understands the finest pints, much like the finest stories, linger long after the final page has turned.

Kings & Daughters Bright As These

4.7% ABV | Kölsch-Style Ale | Hood River, Oregon

Some afternoons seem determined to glow from the inside out, and this graceful Kölsch happily joins the conspiracy. Fresh-baked bread, crisp pear, golden apple, and wildflower honey drift across a delicate malt foundation before floral hops guide everything toward a finish that’s dry, sparkling, and quietly refreshing. Equal parts German precision and easy Northwest hospitality, it invites long conversations beside slow rivers and the comforting realization that not every memorable beer needs to raise its voice.

Kings & Daughters Queens & Sons

5.3% ABV | Soft IPA

Not every IPA feels compelled to make a grand entrance. This one prefers to settle beside you and let the afternoon unfold at its own unhurried pace. Waves of mango, orange juice, lemon ice, and ripe tropical fruit float through a cloud-soft haze while measured bitterness keeps the lushness poised instead of ponderous. Every sip recalls gardens, woodland paths, and good company quietly agreeing there’s no reason to hurry anywhere.

Kings & Daughters Tomorrow Comes

7.3% ABV | Double Dry-Hopped Hazy IPA

Tomorrow has a curious habit of arriving whether you’ve finished today’s beer or not, so you may as well make this moment count. Tropical fruit punch, passion fruit, ripe mango, and lemon-lime citrus surge from the glass with buoyant energy before restrained bitterness restores graceful balance. The generous hop bill somehow feels both lavish and effortless, leaving behind the satisfying reminder that optimism, like an exceptional hazy IPA, is best appreciated in the present tense.

Kings & Daughters Alley Light

6% ABV | West Coast IPA

Every memorable city hides a side street where the ordinary quietly gives way to revelation. Grapefruit peel, orange zest, ripe mango, lime, and resinous pine illuminate a lean, luminous frame while Simcoe, Mosaic, Idaho 7, Motueka, and Citra sharpen each turn with remarkable precision. The bitterness sweeps confidently across the palate before vanishing around the next corner, revealing that clarity can be every bit as captivating as mystery.

Kings & Daughters Visions of Moher

4.4% ABV | Irish Dry Stout

There are landscapes that rearrange your breathing before they ever settle into memory. Inspired by Ireland’s windswept Cliffs of Moher, this classic dry stout layers nutty Maris Otter, roasted barley, and creamy flaked barley into a pint of quiet conviction, revealing bittersweet chocolate, fresh espresso, toasted bread crust, and a whisper of mineral earth with every measured sip. Silken texture gives way to a beautifully dry finish, leaving behind the rare kind of silence reserved for remarkable scenery, honest craftsmanship, and stories worth carrying home.
