Cheers!

DOUBLE MOUNTAIN TWOSDAY: If two is your lucky number, Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022, could be another amazing day. First, we will refer you back to February 2, 2022 (otherwise known as 2.2.22) when Peaks & Pints tapped two beers from Two Beers Brewing — each ran through our Coleman Coolernator, a double Randle beer and cider infusion device hidden inside a 1970s camping cooler. Peaks & Pints will haul out the Coolernator again, this time on Twosday, Feb. 22 (otherwise known as 2.22.22) and invite Double Mountain Brewery & Cidery (get it?) to run their Tossed Apples Dry Cider, our house cider for 2022, plus one of their beers, through our Coolernator. Double Mountain will be in the house beginning at 5 p.m. Why not 2:22 p.m.? Peaks co-owners and twins Robby and Justin Peterson have spa appointments scheduled at that time. Too bad! 5 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022, Peaks & Pints, 3816 N. 26th St., Basecamp Proctor, Tacoma

CIDER FLIGHT: Chai, the Hindi word for tea, is the focus of this week’s Peaks and Pints Monday Cider Flight. A native product of India, masallah chai tea first hit the U.S. during the 1960s, when those seeking enlightenment in India would return with, if nothing else, a new beverage. Hippies first made the tea trend popular in Colorado and Santa Cruz, which is why sometimes it’s called yogi tea. Chai is also called Indian railway tea, a reference to the influx of Indians used by British colonialists to build railroads in Africa. Origin aside, chai can fill a room with whispers of cardamom, cloves, whole black peppercorn, cinnamon, and of course, the brewing of the dark brown loose chai before the gentle addition of milk and a warm stovetop. Today, we feature chai ciders for our weekly Monday cider flight. 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday, Feb. 21, Peaks & Pints, 3816 N. 26th St., Basecamp Proctor, Tacoma

FILM: The film chronicles four years in the life of Julie (Renate Reinsve, who won the Best Actress award at Cannes for her portrayal of this character), a Norwegian woman nearing 30 years of age who navigates the troubled waters of her love life and struggles to find her career path, leading her to take a realistic look at who she really is, in the film, The Worst Person In The World, at The Grand Cinema. 11:35 a.m., 2:30, 5:15, and 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2:15, 5, and 7:45 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21, The Grand Cinema, 606 Fawcett Ave., Tacoma

WORDSMITHS: Creative Colloquy lures writers out from the clicking of their keyboards to connect and conspire — though still connecting from behind their keyboards … for the time being. Rather than a traditional open mic, Creative Colloquy will feature wordsmiths who will share their poem, essay, or short story, followed by a Q&A and open dialogue. Afterward, Creative Colloquy founder Jackie Casella will open the floor up for an open mic round robin. Grab that piece you’re workshopping and test it out with the group. 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, email jackie.d.fender@gmail.com for the Zoom details

JAZZ: The Tacoma Scrutinizers present the Jay Mabin Quartet Tuesday night at The New Frontier Lounge. A veteran of the Northwest music scene for more than 50 years, harmonica player Jay Mabin will be joined by Mason Hargrove (guitar), Osama Afifi (bass), and Dave Cohen (drums) to take the listener on a musical road-trip through the Great American Songbook; stopping off for a pit-stop with Miles Davis and the Beatles. 7-10 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 22, The New Frontier Lounge, 301 E. 25th, Tacoma

DJ NIGHT: Inspired by the lack of variety in dance music in Tacoma, Calvin Murphy and Omar Stokes founded Ocean Grooves Entertainment in January 1999. They started off strong that February with Monday night shows at the 6th & Proctor Bar & Grill (later became Hell’s Kitchen) and dedicated it to underground dance music showcasing various DJs from Seattle plus Tacoma favorites such as Donald Glaude and DJ dAb. Ocean Grooves continues to throw DJ parties, including the 4-year anniversary of their Electric Taco Tuesday — tacos and electronic music — at the Airport Tavern. 8 p.m. to 1:45 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 22, Airport Tavern, 5406 S. Tacoma Way, Tacoma
