TACOMA PREFUNK TUESDAY, NOV. 14 2017: Crux Banished Bourbon PCT Porter and Boston Marathon flick

PREFUNK: Crux Fermentation Project brewed PCT Porter in honor of the thru-hikers on the Pacific Crest Trail stretching from the Mexican border to the Canadian border, covering more than 2,600 miles along the way. On average, it takes thru-hikers about five months to complete the trek. Most hikers start in the south, and by the time they make it into Oregon, they’ve built up a mighty powerful thirst. Enough PCT hikers stop in Bend, Oregon for a shower, a civilized meal and craft beer that the brewery decided to brew PCT Porter just for them and the organization that supports the hikers, Pacific Crest Trail Association. PCT Porter is a velvety, chocolate porter with a small bitter bite at the back. It’s an easy drinking porter with notes of espresso, spruce tips, vanilla and caramel with part of the proceeds benefiting the PCTA, which is awesome. Crux aged the porter in bourbon barrels just about the time most PCT hikers began their journey this year. Now part of its Banished series, the aged porter sports robust flavors of roasted and chocolate malts are emboldened by the vanilla, brown sugar, and oak notes picked up from the barrels. Hike into Peaks and Pints for a pint of Crux [BANISHED] Bourbon PCT Porter from our Western red cedar tap log.

1:30 AND 6:40 P.M. BOSTON: AN AMERICAN RUNNING STORY: As part of its Tuesday Film Series, The Grand Cinema will screen Jon Dunham’s Boston: An American Running Story, a documentary on the history of the Boston Marathon and the preparations for the race after the terrorist bombings in 2013. It’s an emotional comeback story, interspersed with thrilling moments in its history. In deciding to continue its century-old footrace three years ago, Boston faced fundamental questions about human values in a free society challenged by terrorism and fear. Boston, like the city itself, is strong indeed.

6:00 P.M. TASTING TUESDAY: Every Tuesday, The Copper Door pours a flight of four craft beers centered on certain theme. Today’s theme is fruit beers. Drop by the Stadium District bottle shop and taproom for healthy tastes of Belching Beaver’s Peach Be with You, Black Raven’s Kitty Kat Blues, Mazama Brewing’s Rasplendent and Maui Brewing’s Pineapple Mana Wheat Maui Gold.
