SOUTH SOUND PREFUNK WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 13 2017: Iron Horse Hopping Hands and David Gilmore

PREFUNK: Independent craft breweries in the United States often contribute to military causes. Some of the breweries have taken their support one step further with beneficial campaigns, such as Iron Horse Brewery in Ellensburg, Washington. Iron Horse Brewery launched the Hopping Hands Project in May; a four-month, single hop IPA release with proceeds benefitting the Veterans Conservation Corps, a department of the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs. The VCC provides opportunities for veterans to connect with nature in their own way while restoring Washington’s natural resources. Azacca hops are the one-star general for Iron Horse in september. Peaks and Pints has the Azacca version of the Hopping Hands Project IPA pouring from our Western red cedar tap log. Expect sustained impressions of citrus and very ripe mango, with notes of orchard fruit, pine needles and Iron Horse to give proceeds from the Hopping Hands Project keg directly to the VCC. Peaks and Pints, Tacoma

6 AND 9:15 P.M. DAVID GILMORE LIVE AT POMPEII: Forty-five years after Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour filmed Live at Pompeii in the city’s Roman amphitheatre, he returned for two shows that were part of his year-long tour in support of his latest release, Rattle That Lock. The concert film David Gilmour: Live at Pompeii, which screens tonight at The Grand Cinema, captures that concert, which includes Pink Floyd classics such as “One of These Days,” the only song that was also performed at the band’s 1971 show.

7:30 P.M. MASTERS OF ILLUSION: For the past few summers, the CW Network has found some ratings success with Masters of Illusion, a mystifying series featuring escape artists, cutting-edge illusionists and talented performers. Hosted by former Superman, Dean Cain, the show features modern magicians Greg Gleason, Jonathan Pendragon, Naathan Phan and others, all demonstrating their perplexing and astonishing skills in front of a live studio audience. Masters of Illusion: The Tour magically appears at the Western Washington Fair tonight.
