Old SchoolhouseBrewery‘s Brewmaster Kyle Koger, who has worked his way up at the brewery, primarily brews in their larger production facility and taproom in Twisp. He joined OSB in 2012 and has been instrumental in the brewery’s success, overseeing the production of award-winning beers like the Big Valley Brown and the Stygian Tide Porter. The brewery achieved significant recognition at Sip Magazine‘s 13th Annual Best of the Northwest Beer Awards in January, securing nine medals across various categories. Today, Peaks & Pints presents a flight of Old Schoolhouse beer called Peaks & Pints Beer Flight: Old Schoolhouse.
Peaks & Pints Old Schoolhouse Beer Flight
Old Schoolhouse Fun Rock IPA
5.8% ABV
The owners of Old Schoolhouse are outdoor enthusiasts, which is almost mandatory, given that the original riverfront brewery and gastropub is located in Winthrop, situated east of Mazama and north of Twisp in Okanogan County. Brewed just for the fun of it, Fun Rock IPA is anchored by a light-bodied mouthfeel, followed by a big wall of bright citrus, tropical, and dank hops. Choose your route wisely and lead yourself to new heights of hoppy enlightenment.
Old Schoolhouse Misty Mountain Hop
6.5% ABV
A hybrid between West Coast and New England IPAs, Misty Mountain Hop offers a thick mouthfeel, vibrant hop character, and a juicy finish with mild bitterness. The beer is renowned for its clean taste and balanced profile, appealing to both enthusiasts of hazy IPAs and those new to the style.
Old Schoolhouse Iron Scofflaw
6.5% ABV
A sequel to their classic Iron Outlaw IPA, offering a fresh take on the original, Iron Scofflaw is a hazy West Coast medium-bodied IPA with a light and fruity tropical nose, followed by tasting notes of mango, tangerine, papaya, and orange peel. It finishes with a slight bitterness.
Old Schoolhouse Eddy Hopper
7.5% ABV
Casey and Laura Ruud purchased the floundering Winthrop brewery in 2008, renamed it Old Schoolhouse Brewery, and quickly transformed it into an award-winning gem of a brewpub. Nate and Jacob Young, along with their buddy Troy Anderson — longtime fans of the brewery — bought it to keep it awesome. Co-owner and General Manager Jacob is behind his booth pouring Eddy Hopper hazy IPA, which grabbed gold at the 2019 Washington Beer Awards. Brewed with Mosaic, Citra, Simcoe, and NZ Southern Cross, this Old Schoolhouse Brewery IPA takes the nose to the tropics — specifically, pineapple land. Orange dominates the flavor with mild bitterness and a semi-dry finish.
Old Schoolhouse Century Club
8.5% ABV
For their 100th batch, Old Schoolhouse brewed this hazy West Coast double IPA brewed with 2-row, Golden Promise, Pilsner, Wheat malt, Spelt malt, rolled oats, and wheat, plus Southern Cross, Idaho 7, Azacca Cryo, and Mosiac Cryo hops for bright tropical hop flavors followed by a balanced, refreshing bitterness.
