Peaks & Pints Beer Flight: Orange

Share

Plunking a slice of orange on the side of a glass of beer is a distinctly American tradition — one that Peaks and Pints wishes would kindly die. Not only do oils found in the peels of these fruits hinder head formation and rob you of precious aroma, they’re unnecessary. Brewers are already skilled at incorporating orange flavors directly into a beer, using the fruit to harmonize with similar notes found in hops or to add a spicy element to smooth wheat. Tired of all that peeling? Get your daily dose of Vitamin C with five orange-y craft beers in our flight today, Peaks & Pints Beer Flight: Orange.

Peaks & Pints Beer Flight: Orange

Drekker Fluff Stuff: Orange

6% ABV

Drekker Brewing‘s Fluff Stuff: Orange is a fruited sour ale that creatively combines vibrant orange flavors with sweet, fluffy marshmallow notes. This dessert-inspired beer offers a bold, tangy profile with a creamy finish, reminiscent of an orange creamsicle.

Imprint Schmoojee Tangerine A La Mode

6.5% ABV

Imprint Beer’s Schmoojee Tangerine A La Mode is a heavily fruited smoothie-style sour ale as part of their renowned Schmoojee series, celebrated for its rich, dessert-inspired flavors and thick, smoothie-like texture. Tangerine A La Mode combines the zesty citrus of tangerines with the richness of real cream and lactose, resulting in a sweet and tangy experience that’s both refreshing and indulgent. The inclusion of lactose and cream gives it a luscious body, making it akin to a tangerine creamsicle in liquid form.

Matchless POG

6.8% ABV

Matchless Brewing’s POG Hazy IPA brings all the fruit flavor you’d expect in a POG juice … straight from the hop cones. A fluffy bed of flaked oats and wheat lay the backdrop for the tropical, overripe, juicy goodness of Nelson Sauvin and Azacca hops and the citrusy kick of Amarillo. Reminiscent of the classic tropical juice blend, this full-bodied tropical hazy IPA features big notes of passionfruit, orange, and guava, along with a hint of peach.

Fieldwork Pulp

6.9% ABV

Founded in 2014, Fieldwork Brewing Company is a craft brewery headquartered in Berkeley, California, and adding satellite operations in Corte Madera, Monterey, Napa, Sacramento, San Leandro, San Mateo, and San Ramon. In 2016, Pulp originated as a sister beer to their Pulp Free West Coast IPA; however, with Pulp, they omit the bittering additions and package it without any fining agents, resulting in a turbid and creamy brew. Using a more fruit-focused yeast strain, this IPA kicks off with complementary esters of overripe peaches falling from a tree that pair perfectly with its juicy Citra hops. The abundance of Citra hops creates an aromatic bombardment that smells like a Sunday drive through a citrus orchard in the peak of the season, with notes of fresh-squeezed orange juice, Lemonhead candies, peach candy rings, and juicy, sweet mango trekking from the first sniff to the last sip.

Ever Grain Pulp Zombie in “Primordial Booze”

8.4% ABV

Ever Grain Brewing brings back its Pulp Zombie saga for a seventh turn around the sun. The Pennsylvania brewery traveled back in time for this imperial hazy IPA and added prehistoric amounts of Citra hops to a pillowy malt body, making for a pulpy orange liquid reminiscent of the infamous Primordial Booze.
