When you can’t turn on the nightly news without hearing yourself utter, “What fresh hell is this?” it just may be time to go back to the basics and find some common ground on which we can all agree. It’s time to construct a six-pack and get the hell outta Dodge. Here are six craft beer options resting in Peaks and Pints cooler. …

IMPERIAL PUMPKIN PORTER, Alaskan Brewing: Good grief. The nose is pumpkin and heavy pie allspice with caramel, roast, brown sugar, dark caramel, doughy yeast and hints of smoke. Flavor is all that, including dark fruit and cooked orange. 8.5%, 22oz

JUSTICE TEMPLE, Aslan Brewing: The Bellingham brewery released its first round of mixed culture, sour and fruited farmhouse beers from it barrel program located about one block from the brewery at its second location, Aslan Depot: Barrels & Blending. Justice Temple is a three-grain, barrel fermented saison aged in single use, Red Mountain wine barrels that grabbed gold at the 2018 Washington Beer Awards. 5.5%, 500ml

MAN-GO FLUFF YOURSELF MILKSHAKE IPA, RiverBend Brewing: Yup, a mango milkshake IPA with mango and vanilla on the nose and a moderately bitter, moderately sweet with tropical milkshake experience. The relatively high bitterness keeps the sweetness in check. 7%, 16oz

MODERN ROMANCE, Midnight Sun Brewing: A collaboration between Midnight Sun and Modern Dwellers Chocolate Lounge, this dark strong chocolate ale is brewed with chocolate and rye malts, roasted cacao nibs, cacao powder, Maca root powder, brown sugar and Modern Dwellers’ Mayan Spice blend that’s then aged with cocoa powder. Sure, it’s unique but it’s well balanced and remarkably easy to drink. 9.3%, 22 oz

PINEAPPLE HAZY IPA, Ecliptic Brewing and Modern Times Beer: What happens when Modern Times suggest Denali hops during a collaboration? Tropical qualities and almost pineapple like character that goes into full flavor mode once Citra and Mosaic hops join the fruit salad. 8.5%, 500ml

ST. BRETTA CITRUS SAISON, Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project: Before you get too deep into the night, it’s a good idea to open this guy, while you still have access too all of your words and senses. Loads of funk and banana cake hit the nose followed by lemon zest and warm leather. It’s a mild, easy drinking brew with a light saison yeast influence, some earthiness and a dry and lightly tart, citrusy finish. 5.2%, 12oz
