Peaks and Pints Pilot Program: Pure Project Beer Flight

Share

Jesse Pine grabbed his backpack, locked his Costa Rican door, picked up his buddy, Mat Robar, in San Diego, and headed to Colorado to summit a 12,253-footer. On the way up they discussed Costa Rica’s beauty, exotic fruit, and beer. Pine saw a rise in beer enthusiasm in Costa Rica. Two years later, the duo opened Manuel Antonio Brewing Company in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. The beer, scenery, and ingredients were good. The wastewater treatment, cold transportation, and other brewing infrastructures were not good. They moved the brewery to Miramar, San Diego, and renamed it Pure Project. They hired award-winning brewer and agricultural guru Winslow Sawyer and opened in 2016. Today, Peaks & Pints presents a to-go flight of Pure Project beer — a flight we call Peaks and Pints Pilot Program: Pure Project Beer Flight.

8.8% ABV

Collaboration with Weathered Souls Brewing, Pure Project brewed this “murky” IPA again complete with Galaxy and Citra for scents of pineapple, sweet citrus, and passionfruit, while flavors of apricot and resin dance on the tongue.

Pure Project Pure West

6.5% ABV

Pure Project’s first core unfiltered West Coast IPA showcasing hand-selected Mosaic, Simcoe, and Nelson hops for intense aroma of pineapple with a subtle dankness, followed by sweet floral notes leading to a solid bitter finish.
