Went to @levelbeer the other day to meet a friend, whom I haven’t seen since all this hot-mess of a quarantine and COVID-19 started! I felt like a normal, beer-loving PNW explorer chasing after fresh-hop beers in the best season of the year! My friend and I sat on their patio with a little sun and a little breeze comforting us as we talked of all the things. It felt so normal and was so needed. Time with friends, talking through all the things, dreaming of our next steps in life and business, and feeling like anything and everything is possible. I’m so grateful for my friends, my craft beer life, and all the awareness, awakening, and beautiful things that are being forged during this time! #craftbeerlife #beerstories #PNW #mypnwlife #PDX #2020 #newness #newbeginnings #beerfriends #explorebeer #exploreoregon #entrepreneurlife #womenbuilding #businesses #transformation

Anyone else take clean manway door selfies? I’m at the brewery cleaning a tank for tomorrow’s brew day. You may ask “why are you cleaning a tank at 7 pm?” The answer is that Assistant Brewer is my second job. I am also a stay at home mom. There are a lot of factors that go into making the choice to be a stay at home parent but the fact of the matter is for many families, mine included, you don’t have much of a choice. I am only able to work when my partner is home because we can’t afford childcare. We rely on working our schedules around each other’s job and our amazing families for us both to be able to work. I am so unbelievably lucky and grateful that I work with the incredible people at @headlessmumbybrewing that allow me to build my own schedule. I work nights, I work weekends, and I get about one full day at the brewery a week thanks to my sister (love you sis!). I have not always been so lucky in this industry but I always feel such gratitude that I get to work with this team and work for such great guys like Keith and Alex. So this post is mostly a big shout-out to all the working parents out there! And to thank @headlessmumbybrewing for being an equal opportunity employer and fully supporting their employees. I hope more businesses can open their doors to more folks who are star employees just looking for someone to give them a chance. . . . #manwayselfie #equalopportunity #unionwork #ladybrewer #girlsbrewtoo #mamaneedsabeer #momswhobrew #drinklagerbeer

You guys this thing does everything! #ad The Ninja Foodi Grill can grill, roast, air fry, crisp, sear, it’s amazing! SO perfect for a small space, little apartment, dorm or a camper. It’s so many things in one. If you have a small space and need to get the most out of it, I would highly recommend looking into one @ninjakitchen! Here is a recipe I made entirely in just the Ninja Foodi Smart Grill #sponsoredbyninja #ninjafoodigrill #cookingwithbeer #instarecipe #pizza #elote #baconrecipe Bacon Elote Beer Pizza For the dough: 2 ½ (338g) cups bread flour 1 envelope (2 ½ teaspoons) rapid rise yeast ½ teaspoon garlic powder 1 cup (8oz) wheat beer or pale ale 3 tablespoons (30g)olive oil ½ teaspoon kosher salt For the topping: 4 strips bacon 1 ear corn ½ cup shredded mozzarella ¼ cup crema or sour cream ¼ teaspoon garlic powder ¼ teaspoon chili powder ¼ teaspoon salt ¼ cup chopped cilantro 1.In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook attachment, add the flour, yeast, and garlic powder. 2.Mix until combined. In a microwave safe bowl add the beer. Microwave on high for 20 seconds, test temperature with a cooking thermometer and repeat until temperature reaches between 120 and 125 degrees Fahrenheit. 3.Add the beer to the stand mixer and mix on medium speed. Once most of the flour has been moistened, slowly add the salt and oil while the mixer is still running. 4.Turn speed to high and beat until dough is smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes. Transfer dough to a lightly oiled bowl, tightly wrap with plastic wrap. Allow to sit in a warm room until doubled in size, about 45 to 60 minutes. 5.Cook the bacon in the Ninja Foodi: 6.Select “air crisp,” set to 425. Wait for the unit to preheat and say “ADD FOOD”. 7.Add the bacon, close the lid. Cook for 6-8 minutes (this will depend on your bacons thickness). Check half way through cooking to monitor the doneness of your bacon. 8.Remove the air fryer basket, clean the bacon grease out of the pan. Add the grill grate. 9.Preheat the Ninja Foodi by selecting “Grill,” set temperature to max and time to 10 minutes. Wait for the unit to preheat and say “ADD FOOD”. Add the corn, close the lid. Once the corn has cooked

OtterNation: Thank you for being the amazing support that you have been. Use this link (also in profile) to get 15% off eGift cards and support us through these hard times: https://squ.re/2QFMnqp As our officials attempt to navigate the always confusing world of covid-19 policy and distancing, and as things open and close down again, we are in dire straits. We need to sell more beer. We have a lot of it waiting to go out into your hands, but unless we can manage to do that, things are going to be more and more bleak as the lockdown continues. Please let those who represent you know how the lockdown is impacting your small local breweries that are not big enough to have kitchens, which is truly the only distinction between why we cannot be completely open and why other locations can be. We are holding on as tightly as we can. To p us stay afloat, please buy yourself and/or your friends/families/loved ones/neighbors/person on the street an eGift card. We’re giving you a free $15 for every $100 in cards you buy. Buy early, buy often, and please help us survive this hurricane of uncertainty. We’re at our best when you can come in, chill with us, and commiserate with your fellow Otters. Until then, enjoy everywhere else with our cans, with growlers, and with the love that grows when humanity has a little more Otter in it. 🙂

scchhee… scheee…. scheee… Down a long gravel driveway on the west side of Vashon, lives The Coffinmaker. All day he joins, engraves, and sands pine boxes for the dead. sands… sands…sands…. These pine boxes are made for people, most of whom he will never meet. While The Coffinmaker sands each coffin, he prays for the soul of whose body will rest for eternity in this box. He meditates on what could have been the hopes and desires of the body whom will rest here, in this coffin. The Coffinmaker’s message is simple: Be Not Afraid. Be not afraid; for we are never alone, so long as there is a coffin-maker waiting for you, sanding…. sanding… sanding…. waiting… waiting .. waiting…. _____ The Ghost Story Stout, now on tap and in bottle at the taproom on Vashon. Don’t wait too long to try it. ?????
