Tiny Giants Brewing Opens Saturday
To celebrate the fact that it is now brewing and distributing beer, Tiny Giants Brewing opens on Saturday, June 14, for one day only. The location is familiar to PDX beer hounds: it is the former home of Ankeny Gorges Brewing on SE Ankeny Street. The person making the beer, owner and brewer Steve Beaudoin, has a brewing pedigree that includes Old Town Brewing and the now-closed Fractures Brewing. Here is the press release introducing Tiny Giants Brewing. (Washington Beer Blog)
Chuckanut Hosts Thomas Kemper Root Beer Kick-Off
Years ago, Thomas Kemper Brewery, co-owned by Mari and Will Kemper before they opened Chuckenut Brewery, introduced a Root Beer made with honey. It went on to become popular throughout the western states, but was discontinued from brewing in 2020. Recently, Orca Beverage in Edmonds acquired the trademark and began working on reviving the recipe. Orca Beverage specializes in bringing back historic sodas, and they are now releasing their rendition of the Thomas Kemper soda at a kick-off party at Chuckanut Brewery in Skagit Valley, Thursday, June 12, from 4-6 p.m. in the South Nut Tap Room at Chuckanut Brewery in the Port of Skagit across from the airport. Portland Craft Beer Festival July 4 Weekend
The Portland Craft Beer Festival brings a huge outdoor party to The Elizabeth Caruthers Park, along with a vast selection of local beers, ciders, and wine, originating from Portland, Oregon breweries. Only beers, as well as ciders and wine, crafted within the city limits of Portland, are featured at the PCBF, which makes it unique and distinct from other beer festivals. PCBF is held annually on the first full weekend in July, helping to kick off Oregon Craft Beer Month. (Travel Portland)

Beer Consumption in Belgium Declines
Despite its reputation for brewing world-class beers and a heritage that inspired the American craft beer movement, beer consumption in Belgium continues to decline. Although not as steep as the 6% decrease in 2023, beer consumption fell by 2.1% in 2024, according to an annual report by the Belgian Brewers Association. (American Craft Beer)
