Forest Beutel will perform at Rhythm & Rye tonight.

FRIDAY, JULY 15 2016: South Sound events + craft beer …

BLUES IN PROCTOR

Paul Green plays the blues the way they’re meant to be played; shuffles in G and slow burning blues without the designer makeover. As a harp player, Green is one of the best in the state, and his vocals are as hip as the Pink Panther. Not one to rest on his laurels, the New Jersey transplant has a weekend gig with Mark Riley at G. Donnalson’s in Tacoma’s Proctor neighborhood. Guitarist Riley has won numerous music industry awards for his amazing playing and song writing. He also is a master craftsman at building his own line of boutique custom guitars. Check them out at 7:30 p.m. tonight and tomorrow night.
PREFUNK: Is the Earth’s climate really getting warmer? If so, is mankind responsible or does the Earth just want to get hotter, like any prospective Abercrombie & Fitch model? We’re not sure who was responsible for last year’s core of the sun temperature during the Bremerton Summer Brewfest. It was Africa hot. We hugged the shaded edges with the packed crowd. We also hugged many a fabulous craft beer. The Bremerton Brewfest is back, with roughly the same amount of Washington state breweries as last year, 30 or so, but with much more comfortable temperatures predicted. Yes, we said temperatures. The Washington Beer Commission has extended the popular craft beer festival to two days. It kicks off from 4-9 p.m. along the Bremerton Boardwalk. Day two launches at noon tomorrow.

BLUEGRASS IN OLYMPIA

Brush up on some classic bluegrass, some low-down country blues, and bring out your inner hillbilly during the guitar pickin’ show at 9 p.m. in Rhythm & Rye. The downtown Olympia concert venue slash whiskey bar slash craft beer haven will throw banjoists Cory Doerscher and Forest Beutel, guitarist Joey Cappocia and mandolinist Derek McSwain on stage to see what these hot strummers and skilled vocalists do on stage.
PREFUNK: Barbecue at the Boston Harbor Marina is a communal affair, sitting at picnic tables, conversations with folks unwind leisurely. Chris Crow picks guitar. Beef tacos, corn salad and Spanish rice are paired with Pacific Brewing & Malting Co.’s new Annex IPa, Boysen The Hood Wheat Ale and and its other craft beers. It’s going down from 5-8 p.m. y’all
