Brews, Brats & Boards at White Pass recap

Share

This isn’t your typical Saturday night in White Pass Ski Area lodge. People are hanging out rather than racing down the mountain to Packwood cabins. Two bearded dudes are rockin’ guitars and harmonicas in front of the fireplace. Kids are running around like maniacs. But the real difference goes beyond the Sitzmark Lounge’s clientele last night. Ten breweries and cideries are pouring their craft.

Welcome to Brews, Brats & Boards.

The White Pass Volunteer Ski Patrol hosted the party last night, a night of craft beer and cider, wine, brats and silent auction to raise money for the ski patrol’s operations. These talented and aggressive skiers have an important and dangerous job: assessing terrain and providing medical care to injured people on the slopes. Yes, ski patrol ski and board all day long with the mountain as their office. Yet, they are volunteers, rushing your broken self down the mountain on a sled or saving your butt from sinking into a tree well, then digging into their own pockets to pay for the bandages and splints.

Harmon Brewing Co., 10 Barrel Brewing Company, Silver City Brewery & Taproom, Orlison Brewing Co., Iron Horse Brewery, Bale Breaker Brewing Company, Fremont Brewing Company, Yakima Craft Brewing Co., Number 6 Cider and others poured half and full pints, paired with five different Josie’s Winey Dogs brats. A $20 ticket secured a cool pint glass and a bandage for the next time you pretend your ski jacket is a wingsuit and you faceplant into your friend’s chest.
