Peaks and Pints Pilot Program: Drekker Beer Flight

Share

Picture it: Fargo, North Dakota, September 2014, the air crisp with barley dreams and faint echoes of long-forgotten battle cries. After seven years of homebrewing sorcery, business-plan necromancy, Viking cinema marathons, and branding so sharp it could decapitate a troll, scientist Mark Bjornstad, builder Darin Montplaisir, business wrangler Jesse Feigum, and engineer Mason Montplaisir flung open the gates to Drekker Brewing. The name itself? A glorious mash of “drekka” (to drink), “drykkr” (draft drink), and “drakkar,” those dragon-prowed warships that once thundered down European rivers like Odin’s own joyrides. They launched with a humble 10-barrel system in a 5,200-square-foot fortress, pouring approachable ales like a warm handshake before leveling up to a four-vessel 15-barrel beast. The early conquests: a beloved red ale, IPAs in every shade of haze, and then the full siege — smoothie sours so outlandish they became style ambassadors, fruit-bomb marvels from pineapple-guava-passionfruit fever dreams to a PB&J sour that tastes like your lunchbox grew up and got rowdy. Today, Peaks & Pints raids their cellar for a to-go plunder we’re calling Peaks and Pints Pilot Program: Drekker Beer Flight — your own liquid longship for the tongue.

6.8% ABV

Drekker went full on Pineapple Upside Down Cake for this Slang Du Jour Sour a la Mode and stuffed in a ton of pineapple, cherry, brown sugar, granola, cinnamon, lactose, and vanilla beans for another one of those flavors that probably shouldn’t taste so much like the real thing, but it totally does.

Drekker King of the Thing

8.3% ABV

Designed to showcase to the beauty and splendor of Citra, Drekker’s King of the Thing imperial hazy IPA is built on a mountain of oats and spelt for a decadent and smooth mouthfeel. On the tongue, expect notes of lychee, candied lemon, and peach Bellini.
