We’ll miss you Mr. Kevin Lind!

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 18 2017: South Sound events + craft beer …

Tacoma Mountaineers + Peaks and Pints = Power To The People

Tacoma Comedy Club + Pint Defiance = Laughs and Sticky Hands

DANCING WITH SNOW

Nothing really brings that dying-for-the-first-big-snowfall ache more than being reminded of the adrenaline rush and the awe-inspiring beauty of a winter playground landscape. The Backcountry Film Festival makes a stop in Tacoma tonight and is guaranteed to serve as that reminder. The Tacoma Mountaineers will screen the films at 7 p.m. It’s open to the public.

PREFUNK: With the sound of seagulls swirling about his head, Mr. Kevin Lind, 26, reportedly sat on a Ruston Way bench wearing his blue jeans, brown boots, 10 Barrel Brewing Co. hoodie and no hat as he chugged an expensive, high ABV craft beer as fast as he could, relishing in the crisp January morning. “Nothing beats winter in the South Sound,” said His Excellency, the Duke of 10 Barrel, who began the day swaddled in a warm flannel blanket, gazing out at Commencement Bay, as is his custom this time of year. Mr. Lind, who sources speculate loves Christmas, butternut squash soup, holiday parades, family, friends and expensive, high ABV craft beers, will be leaving his beloved Pacific Northwest for Denver, Colorado, where he’ll continue to rep all that is 10 Barrel. Sources said that in addition to snuggling up on the couch sipping expensive, high ABV craft beers as fast as he can and watching A Beer Tale on DVD, Mr. Lind also loves his Bend, Oregon brewery’s Power To the People Stout, a high ABV, beast of a hop bomb with a black tar malt train finish. Family and friends will gather at 5 p.m. inside Peaks and Pints to toast Mr. Lind, drink Power To the People Stout from our Western red cedar tap log and watch Mr. Lind drink Power To the People Stout as fast as he can.

COMEDY OPEN MIC

This is where dreams are made, and nightmares come true. At 8 p.m., Tacoma Comedy Club hosts everything from professional comedians working out new material, to comics getting on stage for the very first time, at its Comedy Open Mic.

PREFUNK: Offering unique hop forward ales, crisp lagers, barrel-aged rarities and one of the Northwest’s most extensive wild and sour programs, Block 15 Brewing Co. produces a range of artfully crafted beers, brewed with a nod toward fresh ingredients and fresh thinking. Established in 2008, and brewer-owned from day one, the Corvallis, Oregon will share its beers from 5-7 p.m. at Pint Defiance.
