JAZZ OUTDOORS

Recent Earshot Jazz Hall of Famer Greta Matassa performs the last Jazz Under the Stars concert for the season at 7 p.m. in the outdoor amphitheater of the Mary Baker Russell Music Center on the Pacific Lutheran University campus. The mainstream jazz singer’s voice, regarded as one of the best in the business, has a diverse quality. She can sound husky or crisp, ebullient or wailing, girlish or jaded. She recalls Billie Holiday in one phrase and Cleo Laine the next. Her tastes run to composers of the stature of Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin, Rogers and Hart, Jimmy Van Heusen, Kurt Weill, George Gershwin, Billy Strayhorn and Duke Ellington. Expect free coffee, snacks for sale and stargazing after the show at PLU’s Keck Observatory.

PREFUNK: Sam Calagione started Dogfish Head in 1995 in the community of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. His mission was, and still is, to brew off-centered ales for off-centered people. Well off-centers, Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA will be poured at Rainier Growlers beginning at 6 p.m. Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. It rings in at 15%-20% ABV and 120 IBUs. Expect other Dogfish Head brews on tap too.

CRUISE-IN AT ACM

LeMay – America’s Car Museum hosts a “Cruise-In” at 5 p.m. the second Thursday of every month. The car museum invites everyone to bring their own vintage vehicle, mix and mingle with other car enthusiasts while listening to music, vote on the People’s Choice Award and enter to win the raffle drawing. Bonus: The museum’s CXC racing simulators will be turned on.

PREFUNK: Last Thursday, North End Social Club had so much fun selling $3 IPAs during National IPA Day that the Sixth Avenue taproom and beer store has decided to make it a regular Thursday hang. That’s right, $3 IPAs every Thursday, beginning ta 4 p.m.
