The Daily Outside: Feederwatch, Fleet Feet Fun Run 3.31.26

From bird counts to pavement pounding — today’s Daily Outside ends where the trail softens, a crowler of Buckhorn Dry Cider resting on stone like a quiet Pacific Northwest exhale.

The Daily Outside: Feederwatch, Fleet Feet Fun Run 3.31.26

Tuesday balances the equation — a little quiet noticing in a room full of birds and good questions, followed by a few easy miles to shake the day loose and let the body remember what it’s for.

Feederwatch at the Tahoma Bird Alliance Office

Feederwatch at the Tahoma Bird Alliance Office
Hosted by Tahoma Bird Alliance
Tuesday, March 31 • 2–3 p.m.
Tahoma Bird Alliance Office, 2917 Morrison Rd W, University Place
Free • Drop-in • Indoor • ADA accessible.

Not every Daily Outside outing has to begin in rain shells and trail grit. Sometimes it starts in a conference room, with a few sharp-eyed volunteers, a window on the feeders, and the deeply satisfying business of turning “little gray bird” into something gloriously specific. Tahoma Bird Alliance’s afternoon Feederwatch is built for exactly that sort of low-key delight: you stop in, brush up on backyard bird identification, chat with fellow birders, and help contribute data to Project FeederWatch, the long-running community science effort tracking birds at feeders across North America.

What to know before you go:
The session runs from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday in the organization’s conference room and requires no RSVP. Tahoma Bird Alliance describes it as a volunteer-hosted indoor activity where visitors can identify birds, socialize, and contribute observations to Project FeederWatch. The group also notes that these afternoon Feederwatch sessions run Mondays and Tuesdays from November through April, so this one fits into a larger seasonal rhythm rather than feeling like a one-off curiosity.

Puyallup Tuesday Night Fun Run & Walk

Puyallup Tuesday Night Fun Run & Walk
Hosted by Fleet Feet Puyallup
Tuesday, March 31 • 6–7 p.m.
115 S. Meridian, Puyallup
Free • Run or walk • About 3 miles • All paces welcome.

Some Tuesdays want a couch and a low-grade excuse. This one wants motion, company, and a little fresh air pushed through the system. Fleet Feet Puyallup’s weekly fun run/walk is the friendly, no-big-deal kind of gathering that turns exercise into something far more appealing: a standing date with other humans who also understand that a few miles can do remarkable things for the mind. You meet outside the shop, head out for roughly 3 miles around Puyallup, and return feeling slightly less haunted by the workweek.

What to know before you go:
The group meets every Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Fleet Feet Puyallup, and Fleet Feet lists it as a free weekly run/walk for every runner and athlete in the community. Signing up gets you reminders and updates on routes, cancellations, times, or location changes. The Puyallup store location is 115 South Meridian.

Afterward at Peaks & Pints

Slide in as the evening softens, legs a little looser, eyes still tuned to wingbeats and motion, and let the day settle properly with a pint of Cut-Off Flannel IPA — all crisp pine snap and easy confidence — or the Buckhorn Dry Cider, bright, dry, and just wild enough to feel like it remembers the orchard.
