TACOMA PREFUNK THURSDAY, JULY 27 2017: Narrows Brewing Lodge Meeting and Baby Groot

PREFUNK: Craft-beer drinkers have never had more options for enjoying their favorite beverage. You can head out and hit any of the dozens of craft breweries in the South Sound now has to offer. On the other hand, sometimes all you want to do is sip a delicious craft beer while becoming lost in a beautiful view. At Narrows Brewing Co., you can do both. Founded in July 2013 by a group of friends, Narrows Brewing Co. is a 15-barrel brewhouse built on wood pilings next to Narrows Marina above the Narrows waterway with a glorious view of the Narrow Bridge and active waterfront. Peaks and Pints asks you to skip the view for one night and drink Narrows craft beers in a huge lodge in the middle of Tacoma’s Proctor District. We’ll be pouring Narrows Cream Ale on nitro, Area 13 Imperial IPA, Lead the Way IPA and its new Summer IPA at 6 p.m. Expect door prizes. Peaks and Pints, Tacoma

7 P.M. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2: Is the second Guardians picture as good as the game-changing original? Is it as funny? As exciting? Doe sit use music in the same way as the first film? Yes … and the screen debut of Ego, the Living Planet played by Kurt Russell, thus satisfying another litmus test for the flick’s potential: How much does it have in common with Escape From New York? If you enjoyed the first Guardians, you’ll love the second, even if the shiny veneer of newness has dulled somewhat. The music is uniformly great, the jokes are whip-smart and delightful, the action scenes are exciting CG works of art, the characters are identifiable and lovable, and Baby Groot is freakin’ adorable. Blue Mouse Theatre, Tacoma

9 P.M. JUGS OF BLOOD: What makes Death Metal so powerful to many fans is its versatility. It can blend itself well into any other genre of metal seamlessly; it has had a part in the formation and inspiration of many black metal grindcore, doom metal and experimental bands across the globe. Death metal band Jugs of Blood invades The Valley with old school riffs and a ton of doom. Most likely Power Skeleton, Himiko Cloud and Mudslug will find comfort before the crowd tonight. The Valley, Tacoma
