TACOMA PREFUNK MONDAY, OCT. 2 2017: Selkirk Abbey Cuvée de la Nuit Profonde and Spider-Man

PREFUNK: Selkirk Abbey’s seasonal Cuvée de la Nuit Profonde blend of barrel-aged beers has hit Peaks and Pints‘ Western red cedar tap log. The dark, rich Cuvée de la Nuit Profonde (9 percent ABV) goes down smooth for its strength. The beer is a blend of the brewery’s 8˚ dubbel, 10˚ quadruple and Guilt imperial porter aged anywhere from six to 18 months in a variety of barrels including Burgundy, Cabernet Franc and Malbec wines plus wheat and rye whiskeys.

7 P.M. SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING: Director Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming works because of the actors he employs in the film’s two crucial roles; Tom Holland, as Spidey, and Michael Keaton, as The Vulture. These two ably carry the film, with strong support from actors such as Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Bokeem Woodbine and Robert Downey Jr.  The film picks up after the happenings of last year’s Captain America: Civil War. Spider-Man, fresh off of aiding Team Iron Man against Team Captain America, has returned home to New York; he’s also now in possession of a super-suit designed for him by Tony Stark (Downey). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine — distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man — but when the Vulture emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important is threatened. The Blue Mouse Theatre screens the flick at 7 p.m.

10 P.M. ROCKARAOKE: In the early ’70s, a Japanese musician by the name of Daisuke Inoue invented the first ever karaoke machine. The name karaoke comes from a combination of the word Kara (meaning empty) and Okesutora (meaning orchestra). However, even Daisuke’s Sadist ass couldn’t have fathomed what you can experience tonight at Jazzbones. Rockaroake is the brainchild of George Aragon and Rusty Urie, formerly of Hit Explosion, who employ a rotating group of local musicians to feed their live band karaoke night. While there have been a few bars that have tried hosting karaoke nights with live bands, Jazzbones’ Rockaraoke live band karaoke is one of the ones that has lasted. Sing your heart out at 10 p.m.
