TACOMA PREFUNK FRIDAY, OCT. 6 2017: Founders Breakfast Stout Release Party and Kareem Kandi World Orchestra

PREFUNK: Breakfast Stout from Founders Brewing, those agents of darkness, hits each part of the imperial stout holy trinity with vigor: It’s brewed with oatmeal, coffee beans and real chocolate. It’s harmonious, with charred cacao bitterness, oatmeal richness and bright coffee notes. Peaks and Pints celebrates the annual release of Breakfast Stout with a tap takeover at 5 p.m. Come on out and enjoy one of the first Breakfast Stout taps of the season. We will also have other Founders craft beers on tap, including Kentucky Breakfast Stout brewed with massive amounts of coffee and chocolate and aged in oak bourbon barrels in caves that were at one time gypsum mines beneath Grand Rapids, Michigan, as well as Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale, Mosaic Promise Pale Ale, ReDANKulous IPA and fresh hop Harvest Ale.

8 P.M. KAREEM KANDI WORLD ORCHESTRA: The Kareem Kandi World Orchestra will be performing this evening at Peaks and Pints as part of Tacoma Arts Month. Saxophonist Kareem Kandi will be joined by bassist Greg Feingold and drummer Max Holmbergs as they tour the works of Thelonious Monk and Eddie Harris. No cover for funky jazz seems righteous.
