SUNDAY, JUNE 5, 2016: South Sound events + craft beer …

Sunday Beer Sampler + Jason Locking benefit = rock and roll extravaganza
Beer Flight + Micro Wrestling Federation = small action

JASON LOCKING BENEFIT

Tacoma musician, chef and all around awesome dude Jason Locking was diagnosed with late-stage pancreatic cancer and is currently undergoing chemo, radiation, homeopathic and MMJ therapy treatments in conjunction with each other. Locking has had to put his culinary and musical talents aside to due to the physical strains of these treatments, so his only current income is a small portion of his regular pay in the form of a short-term disability check. Over the past several months Tacomans have been hosting benefit shows and outings to help Locking pay his bills, including a 5 p.m. extravaganza at The Swiss. The Grit City Sirens Burlesque Troupe will join Ex Gods, The Fucking Eagles, Pig Snout, Hilltop Rats, Blanco Bronco and Tacos for an evening of shock and amazement and some damn fine rock and roll. If you’d like to know more about Jason and his fight or for more ways to help, please visit https://www.gofundme.com/grwc8fp8.
PREFUNK: Pint Defiance present part two of its Sunday Sampler nod to Sierra Nevada’s Beer Camp Across America. As you know, Pint Defiance offers a “Sunday Beer Sampler” from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Assistant Manager R.J. Adler runs the Sampler, typically choosing four 4-ounce pours from bottles out of the cooler, centered around a theme — a specific brewery, certain beer style, holidays, topical event or, if he can, his favorite sours. Today, as noted, its Beer Camp Beers, plus one beer from one of the featured Sierra Nevada collaborators. Drop by for pours of Beer Camp West Latitude Session Rye, Beer Camp Pat-Rye-Ot American Pale Ale, Beer Camp Family Values Imperial Brown Ale and Prairie Artisan Ales Phantasmagoria Imperial IPA.

MICRO WRESTLING FEDERATION

When pondering wrestling, images of huge, burly men with bombastic vernacular and flamboyant costumes usually come to mind. At 6 p.m., all of the above will ensue — except the “huge” part. The Micro Wrestling Federation is bringing “a full blown night of Midget Wrestling” to Jazzbones. With names like Bronx Thug, Short Dawg and J-Mazing, the “micro people” will combine four matches of body slams and half nelsons during single matches, tag team matches and a “Battle Royale.”
PREFUNK: 99 Bottles in Federal Way specialty beer store carries beer crafted by Washington state breweries, breweries throughout the US, and imported beer from about 50 countries. Plus, it offers eight craft beers on tap for growler fills to go. From noon to 4:30 p.m., 99 Bottles will offer a flight of 10 Barrel Brewing Piña pineapple passionfruit ale, Tahoe Mountain Brewing Aurelia wild ale (limited, foudre), ZEOS Brewing Black and Hilliard’s Beer Murdered Out Stout.
