Tallinn’s Põhjala Brewery arrived in 2011. Founded by a small group of Estonian brewers and creatives, the brewery took its name from the North itself and quickly developed a reputation for precision, imagination, and a deeply serious relationship with dark beer. Rather than dabbling, porters and stouts became a native language, shaped by regional sensibility, expanded through barrel aging, and guided by an instinct for balance even at high gravity. Over time, Põhjala grew into one of Europe’s most respected voices in strong, contemplative beer — rooted in place, fluent in tradition, and confident enough to bend styles without snapping their spine.
That lineage makes the Peaks & Pints Põhjala Flight feel less like a lineup and more like a temperature shift. The journey moves from green, fleeting freshness to winter-dark depth, tracing how a northern brewery thinks about time, seasonality, and restraint. There’s wet-hop immediacy that disappears almost as soon as it arrives, a porter that understands warmth without spectacle, a dessert stout that whispers instead of shouts, and finally a barrel-aged nightcap that asks you to slow all the way down. This is northern beer thinking out loud — measured, indulgent when it chooses to be, and always aware that darkness, when handled well, can feel remarkably inviting.

Põhjala Värske Wet Hop Lager 2025
5.0% ABV | Wet Hop Lager | Tallinn, Estonia
Brewed like a postcard sent overnight from harvest, this lager snaps with fresh-cut grass, herbal lift, and a soft citrus flicker that feels alive and fleeting in the glass. Whole-cone Saaz hops go straight from field to kettle, giving the beer a green, peppery brightness balanced by clean malt poise.
Põhjala Jõuluporter
‘10.0% ABV | Imperial Porter
Winter dusk seems to settle into the glass here, carrying dark chocolate ganache, espresso bitterness, and a gentle glow of spice wrapped in a body that feels both comforting and composed. Roasted malt depth and soft cinnamon warmth build patiently, letting heat arrive slowly rather than perform theatrics. Treated like a long table by candlelight, this imperial porter lingers with calm assurance, a reminder that celebration doesn’t need sparkle to feel profound.
Põhjala Tiramisu Bänger
12.5% ABV | Imperial Stout
Dessert arrives after midnight in this one, unfolding layers of espresso-soaked cocoa, mascarpone creaminess, and dark chocolate depth with unhurried confidence. Pastry elements lean indulgent without losing structure, as coffee bitterness, lactose softness, and stout gravity keep each other in elegant check. The result drinks like a whispered indulgence rather than a sugar rush, equal parts after-dinner treat and long-form conversation you’re happy to let run late.
Põhjala Northern Decadence
14.5% ABV | Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout
Velvet and smoke lead the way as this stout reveals dark chocolate syrup, roasted malt, and peated whisky warmth in slow, deliberate waves. Time in Swedish single-malt barrels lends minerality, vanilla hush, and a faint white-pepper flicker that deepens rather than decorates the base beer. It drinks like a midnight conversation by candlelight — brooding, indulgent, and unapologetically rich.
