Peaks & Pints Dessert Beer Flight

Share

“Invention, my dear friends, is 93 percent perspiration, 6 percent electricity, 4 percent evaporation, and 2 percent butterscotch ripple.” Those are the words of Gene Wilder in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Brewing beer could be said to be much the same, especially when creative beer makers use all kinds of sweet treats in their recipes, from candy and cookies to cereal and cinnamon rolls. While the notion of a sweet beer may be sickening to those who prefer their hops, malt, and water to be unadorned by ingredients more commonly seen in children’s sticky hands on Halloween, there are many more beer lovers whose sweet teeth just can’t be satiated. For them, and all the mothers on Mother’s Day, we present Peaks & Pints Dessert Beer Flight. Pair this flight with our housemade strawberry lemon cake topped with strawberry compote.

Drekker Chonk: Banana Split

6.6% ABV

Scientist Mark Bjornstad, builder Darin Montplaisir, businessperson Jesse Feigum, and engineer Mason Montplaisir first dreamed of starting a brewery. Through dumb luck, hard work, and amazing friends, they eventually got the opportunity to resurrect this building and bring this dream to life in September 2014 — Drekker Brewing. Drekker’s Banana Split Chonk Sundae Sour combines an ungodly number of bananas with strawberries and chocolate for a thick and absurd challenge to everything you ever dreamed beer could be. ⠀

Lumberbeard Barrel-Aged Campfire Snack

12.7% ABV

Lumberbeard Brewing grabbed their Campfire Snack pastry stout, which is jam-packed with graham crackers, marshmallows, cacao nibs, peanut butter, and vanilla, and then aged it in bourbon barrels for 14 months for a liquid s’more with a bourbon finish.

Bottle Logic Finite Universe

12.8% ABV

Stroll into a donut shop for Bottle Logic Brewing’s outrageous pastry collaboration with Odd By Nature Brewing from Maine. The Finite Universe is soft and silky, with all that glorious, powdered sugar frosting sweetness right at the tip of the tongue and an unmistakable mid-palate hit of the 600 giant cake donuts it was finished through. It all comes full circle (or full torus) with a bold roast to balance the palate with an almost coffee-like bitterness.

Fort George 2025 Matryoshka with Vanilla Bean & Pistachios

13.9% ABV

The Fort George Brewery 2025 Matryoshka begins with a decadent imperial stout aged for one year in whiskey and bourbon barrels. During these 12 months of confinement, the robust flavor of the barrel tempers the dessert-like sweetness of the base stout to produce a rich, smooth, flavorful stout that is neither too thick nor too thin. This year’s Matryoshka was aged in Westward Whiskey & Westland Distillery Whiskey barrels. Smaller and smaller variations emerge from this mother batch, conditioned on complementary ingredients, creating a family of variants such as New Caledonia and West Papua vanilla, plus roasted pistachios.

Mason Ale Works B.A. Baracus

14% ABV

Born in Chicago, Bosco Albert “BA” Baracus was raised in a poor neighborhood. A confrontational child, he often engaged in violence and petty crime. As he grew, he developed an interest in mechanics, at which he excelled. As an adult, he joined the Army, rising to the rank of sergeant and becoming a member of the US Special Forces unit, the A-Team. He was imprisoned along with the rest of the team for a crime they did not commit, and escaped along with them, becoming a soldier of fortune in Los Angeles. Mason Ale Works salutes Baracus with a namesake bourbon barrel-aged barleywine aged in Cutwater Bourbon barrels for a year, for rich toffee, plum, vanilla, and cherry notes.
