G LOVE’S SPECIAL SAUCE IPA, GoodLife Brewing: In 1994, Philadelphia-based blues/hip-hop artist G. Love scored his biggest mainstream hit with “Cold Beverage.” His band, G. Love & Special Sauce has been touring pretty much nonstop ever since. Last June, that included a set on the lawn at GoodLife Brewing in Bend, Oregon. That, in turn, led to GoodLife’s latest collaboration between the brewery and G. Love himself, to make what the brewery calls “the dankest of the dankest IPAs known to mankind.” G. Love’s Special Sauce IPA combines six different types of hops — Mosaic, Idaho 7, Mandarina Bavaria, Centennial, Columbus and El Dorado — for a danky dankster of a beer. 7%, 12oz

HOP PIONEER, Puyallup River Brewing: Puyallup Valley pioneer Ezra Meeker first started planting hops as a cash crop in 1867. It paid off. For decades he sold hundred of tons a year, including a lucrative and mutually beneficial relationship with Portland brewer Henry Weinhard. After the British hops crop failed in 1882, Ezra Meeker earned his moniker “Hop King of the World” as he moved into the international market. Other farmers on both sides of the Cascades began to jump into the hops industry when they saw Meeker’s success. Puyallup River Brewing pays tribute to Meeker and other Puyallup Valley hop growers with its new double IPA, Hop Pioneer, brewed with Idaho 7, Mosaic and Chinook hops. The Hazy IIPA begins with a fruity sweetness with a moderate, citrusy, long bitter finish. 8%, 16oz

TART MANGO CART, Golden Road Brewing: Inspired by the iconic fruit cart vendors of Los Angeles, this light, refreshing wheat ale was brewed with lots of fresh mango, which dominates the nose and flavors, although wheat takes over as the mango fades in the slightly tart finish. 3.2%, 12oz
