Peaks and Pints Prefunk: Plaid Habit and Tacoma Noise Rodeo

Friday, Nov. 30 2018 — Billy Idol turns 63 today

Peaks and Pints Weather Guy has today’s weather for Larch Mountain in Northern Oregon Cascades.

Today’s Peaks and Pints Prefunk was compiled while watching people fall.

PEAKS AND PINTS DRAFT HIGHLIGHTS TODAY

AMERICAN PALE ALE, Stoup Brewing: This American Pale Ale is golden in color, has a moderate in body and bittered for balance. Cascade and Citra Hops in the dry-hopping process give it notes of citrus and a touch of pine. It is smooth and delicious. 5.6%

PLAID HABIT IMPERIAL BROWN, Boulevard Brewing: Born a double-mashed imperial brown ale, then matured for 18 months in freshly emptied 10-year Canadian rye whisky barrels, Boulevard Brewing’s sturdy ale strikes the nose with toffee, toast, pecan and nearly shuttering alcohol spice. Lush sweetness splashes against the tongue with the full brunt of caramel, toffee, simple syrup and honey for a full on malt display. 13.9%

McMenamins purchased the historic Tacoma Elks building in 2007, and work began in earnest in 2017. Restoration and renovation continue at a steady pace, with hard-hatted carpenters, electricians, craftspeople and artists working side by side to transform the 1915 structure into a hotel with bars, ballroom-as-live-music-venue, brewery, restaurants and a secret room — in short, an all-around gathering spot for out-of-town guests and locals alike. The hotel will open in April 24, 2019, with reservations opening at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5.

7 Seas Brewing Co. has announced a move and expansion into a larger building in historic downtown Gig Harbor. The popular local craft brewery has outgrown their current space and says construction is already underway in the new facility, located in downtown’s Peninsula Shopping Center, just a block from the waterfront. Initially, the company says, the expansion will create four new jobs.

Ever since they packaged one of the world’s strongest beers in a dead animal back in 2010 to create one of the most controversial beers ever brewed, BrewDog has pushed beer boundaries. The latest move? An IPA just for dogs. …
