Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Humble Forager Brewery

Share

Annie Henderson and Austin Jevne first founded Forager Brewery — a brewpub in Rochester, Minnesota, serving wood-fired and pouring a range of beers designed by Jevne — in 2015. Soon the pair realized there was demand for Forager’s beer beyond their walls. Just one problem: Minnesota’s antiquated beer laws don’t allow brewpubs to sell their beers through distribution. October 2019, Henderson and Jevne announced plans to begin beer production out of Wisconsin — Jevne’s home state — under the name Humble Forager Brewery. The new brand will allow Forager to sidestep a Minnesota law by contract brewing at Octopi Brewing Company in Waunakee, Wisconsin. Jevne and his Forager brewing team will travel to Wisconsin with their recipes and begin the brewing process. From there, Octopi will handle the rest, including the packaging and distribution. Despite being a tiny brewpub in southeast Minnesota, Forager’s beers are requested far and wide — a development that Jevne didn’t see coming. Humble Forager Brewery is now available in Western Washington, thanks to Stoup Distro. Today, Peaks & Pints presents a flight of Humble Forager beer — a flight we’re calling Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Humble Forager Brewery.

Humble Forager Coastal Sunshine (v4)

6% ABV

Humble Forager’s Coastal Sunshine is their rotating series of fruited sour ales that incorporate ingredients both locally and globally depending on seasonal availability and ripeness. Their tart base beer has extremely low bitterness which allows the juicy tones within the fruit to shine through. Version 4 is a fruited sour combining fresh passionfruit mixed with Indian and South American mangos, and then finished with aromatic pink guava.

Humble Forager Enchanted Island: Painkiller

9% ABV

Humble Forager’s Enchanted Island cocktail-inspired series blends the crispness of hard seltzer with the tangy kick of a fruited sour, inspired by the flavors of the Caribbean. Enchanted Island: Painkiller imperial sour is a take on the Painkiller cocktail loaded with fresh pineapple and orange juices, then dosed with fresh coconut before a gentle dusting of nutmeg.

Humble Forager Enchanted Island: Jamaican Punch

9% ABV

This version of Humber Forager’s Enchanted Island cocktail-inspired series is inspired by a Jamaican Punch cocktail. Vibrant passion fruit, juicy orange, and smooth coconut take center stage, backed by zesty lime, a touch of cranberry and sweetened by pomegranate simple syrup.

Humble Forager Eastern Seaboard

7% ABV

Eastern Seaboard is a double dry hopped New England style IPA brewed with American barley, Canadian oats, German spelt malt, and a dash of lactose sugar. Hopped in the whirlpool and hop back before being dry hopped twice with 5 pounds per gallon of lupulin saturated Mosaic, Citra, and Galaxy hops for hints of dry fruit and earth on the nose followed by tropical fruit peel notes with a mellow bitterness.

Humble Forager Elevated Perspective

8% ABV

This version of Elevated Perspective hazy double IPA is packed with Nelson Sauvin and Citra all the way through the brewing process. Brewed with a larger percentage of soft white wheat and oats, the combination of these ingredients creates a gentle texture with a huge hop profile.
