September 2014: downtown Fargo, where the wind still smells faintly of grain dust and Nordic ghosts, saw the grand unshackling of Drekker Brewing — the fever dream of scientist Mark Bjornstad, builder Darin Montplaisir, business wrangler Jesse Feigum, and engineer Mason Montplaisir. Seven years of homebrewing alchemy, business-plan incantations, Viking cinema marathons, and brand tinkering sharp enough to slice through a fjord led to this moment. The name? A war cry to the region’s Nordic bloodline, stitched from “drekka” (to drink), “drykkr” (draft drink), and “drakkar,” those dragon-prowed warships that once ruled Europe’s waterways like Odin’s own commute. They launched with a humble 10-barrel kit in a snug 5,200-square-foot lair, pouring approachable classics before leveling up to a four-vessel 15-barrel beast. Soon came a beloved red ale, IPAs in every spectrum of haze and clarity, and then the great conquest: smoothie sours so audacious they became style ambassadors, swaying from tropical bacchanals of pineapple, guava, and passionfruit to a PB&J fever dream in liquid form. Today, Peaks & Pints loads your longship with Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Drekker Brewing — an in-house voyage for the fearless palate.
