National Brownie Day is absolutely a thing, and we’re not talking about the Scottish goblins who clean your house in exchange for honey and gruel. Yes, it’s another day to indulge in chocolate, this time instead of warm, square, baked things; we’re drinking them. We live to serve. Although the origin of brownies is not known, some theories suggest they were created after a chef made a mistake. The chef accidentally added chocolate to a cake mix, thus creating brownies. The first officially documented brownies were made in Chicago for a ladies’ fair luncheon in the late 1800s. The event chefs were asked to invent a new dessert that could be included in the boxed lunches at the events. The brownies were decorated with an apricot glaze and a layer of walnuts. On the National Brownie Day, Peaks & Pints presents a flight of holiday beers that taste like brownies — a flight we’re calling Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Brownie Day.

Rainy Daze Totally Baked Chocolate Coconut Milk Stout
5.2% ABV
Rainy Daze Brewing’s Totally Baked Chocolate Coconut Milk Stout offers layers of chocolate, hints of sweet vanilla and the tropical nutty notes of toasted coconut. Maris Otter, pale chocolate, chocolate wheat and rolled oats make a delicious chocolate base to this decadent milk stout.
Bottle Logic Mind Over Batter
12% ABV
Bottle Logic Brewing baked up a brilliant bourbon barrel-aged walnut brownie-inspired imperial pastry stout with the buoyant boatmen of Georgia’s Pontoon Brewing. Expect aromas of sweet, dark cacao, bourbon-soaked oak, and an increasing walnut richness as the liquid comes to ambient temperature. On the palate, there’s a bitter Baker’s chocolate backbone, reminiscent of that perfect crispy corner piece of brownie with a silky finish of walnut richness.
E9 Brewing Choco Bliss
12.5% ABV
Matt Rhodes brewed delicious stouts before Fort George Brewery grabbed him away from Narrows Brewing in Tacoma. Fort George knows stouts well — and talent. Rhodes left his brewery in Astoria and traveled back to Tacoma to brew a dark, rich and decadent stout at E9 Brewing in Tacoma’s Historic Brewery District. The result is Choco Bliss, an imperial stout aged in Russell’s Reserve 10 Year Bourbon barrels and then lightly kissed with cacao nibs and vanilla for the icing on top.
Lumberbeard Barrel-Aged Campfire Snack
12.7% ABV
Lumberbeard Brewing grabbed their Campfire Snack pastry stout that is jam-packed with graham crackers, marshmallow, cacao nibs, peanut butter and vanilla and then aged it in bourbon barrels for 14 months for a liquid s’more with a bourbon finish.
Block 15 Imagine 2024
14% ABV
A blend of Belgian-inspired imperial stouts matured for one and two years in freshly emptied Willett bourbon barrels, Block 15 Brewing’s deep, dark, and decadent Imagine 2024 is their strongest offering blended once a year. Imagine notes of burnt cocoa, baker’s chocolate, toffee, a hint of vanilla, and not boozy at all despite being 14 percent.
