MONDAY, JAN. 30 2017: Blue Mouse Theatre + Peaks and Pints = Flight The Power

MORE WIZARDS

J.K. Rowling will always be aces in Peaks and Pints’ book. Got an entire generation interested in reading. Gave away so much of her money that she no longer qualifies as a billionaire. So yeah, she can milk the wizarding crap for the rest of her life as far as we’re concerned. Warner Bros. seems to agree, having allowed Rowling for the first time to adapt her own work in the form of Fantastic Beasts, a story that predates Harry Potter’s by some 70 years, about the adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards. The film is screening on Blue Mouse Theatre’s screen at 7 p.m.

PREFUNK: Over the last month Peaks and Pints has discovered craft beer is not only music to the palate, but also possibly to the ears. Every Monday in January we invited Pacific Brewing & Malting Co. over for a listening party, tapped one of the downtown Tacoma brewery’s beers, played games and enjoyed a playlist from the brewery’s sales executive Andy Kenser. We discovered the music elevated the sensory experience of full-flavored beer. At 6 p.m., our last SudsPop with Pacific hits our little lodge in the Proctor District. Kenser will “Flight The Power” tonight, with a rebellious playlist and a blind beer tasting. He’s pouring blind tastes of Pacific Brewery AND American Brewing Co. beers, asking the audience to guess the beer styles while Check D screams, “We got to pump the stuff to makes us tough.”
