MORNING FOAM FOR MONDAY, AUG. 1 2016: A seven-taster flight of craft beer news, from the fluffy head all the way to the bottom gunk. …

Ah, autumn—the season when hops mellow, malts deepen, and gourds are violated in the name of deliciousness. Yes, friends, Elysian Brewing’s Great Pumpkin Beer Festival rises again on Saturday, Oct. 8, this time spreading its pumpkin-spiced gospel across Elysian Fields and the North Lot at CenturyLink Field, where revelers can sip their way through gourd-infused glory beneath the watchful gaze of a massive, beer-filled pumpkin. It’s the 12th year of this squashy spectacle, now compacted into one glorious, tipsy day from 3–10 p.m. Meanwhile, Parkway Tavern just turned 81 (and still parties harder than most 21-year-olds), CraftBeer.com explores the ever-shifting landscape of brewing dreams and disasters, and the Smithsonian continues its noble quest to preserve the fermented history of America—by hiring a beer historian. Also on tap: beer fest etiquette lessons (because yes, you should rinse that tasting glass), a homebrew revolution via Kickstarter, and a historically saucy take on Hillary’s DNC speech courtesy of Broad City. Happy August, you glorious weirdos. Pumpkin everything awaits.

The Great Pumpkin Beer Festival from Elysian Brewing returns Saturday, Oct. 8, to a new location at Elysian Fields and across the street at the North Lot of CenturyLink Field. For the 12th year, the GPBF will be shortened to taking place for one day only from 3-10 p.m. Tickets to the GPBF event go on sale today, Monday, Aug. 1.

CraftBeer.com spoke with two brewery owners — one from the founding generation, and one still in planning — to learn more about the challenges and, ultimately, rewards, facing craft breweries yesterday, today and tomorrow.

An Insider’s look: Why the Smithsonian is hiring a beer historian.

Festiquette: [fest-i-ket] (n) the rules indicating the proper and polite way to behave at beer festivals.

Homebrew kit maker Craft a Brew recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for a product called The Catalyst Fermentation System, which basically gets rid of the need for transferring and syphoning, making it easier to make your own craft beer at home.

The Democratic nominee acceptance speech by Hillary Clinton was definitely a historic moment for women and humanity — which is why Stephen Colbert asked the ladies of Broad City to give him their take on it … dressed as women from 1776.
