One year later—almost to the pint—David Cook, Sarah Templin, and Jessie Russell returned to the scene of the sudsy synchronicity, like some carbonated cosmic glitch had looped them back in time. It was the second anniversary of Pacific Brewing & Malting Co., and there they were again, framed like a sacred trinity of craft beer nostalgia in the very same brewery corner they’d unknowingly consecrated during a 2015 BikeroBrew ride. Back then, Steve Navarro, Pacific’s co-founder and fermentation whisperer, had led the merry pedal-powered posse through the brewhouse with his son in tow. This time? His daughter flanked him like a tiny assistant brewmaster while he dropped knowledge on saccharification as if it were bedtime poetry. And as if summoned by malt magic or planetary alignment, Cook, Templin, and Russell instinctively fell into the exact same triangular formation on the brewery floor—an echo, a callback, a ghost of barley past. Did they recreate their legendary beerymid pose on the way out? We don’t know. But if they did, someone cue the X-Files theme and pass the IPA.
