Established: 2015

Owner: Jim Dignam

Brewer: Jim Dignam

Location: : 2416 14th Ave NW in Gig Harbor

Specialty: “My wife’s favorite beer” — a Belgian Wit first brewed to commemorate an anniversary in Paris, poured alongside a lineup of small-batch ales brewed with equal parts precision, whimsy, and island stubbornness.

Five Notable Beers: AZ Drinkin’ Pale Ale, Topless Too ISA, FI Brickyard Imperial, Barrel Aged Port, and various one-off experiments that somehow always tasted like home.

Status: Fox Island Brewing began humbly in Dignam’s garage on a 1.5-barrel system, before graduating to a 3-barrel setup and, in May 2018, opening FIB Tap–IN — a snug taproom that doubled as a love letter to independent nano-brewing. Guests sipped beer, cider, wine, and spirits while gnawing gourmet hot dogs, swapping fish stories, and eyeing the view. The brewery built a loyal following but eventually poured its last pint in the early 2020s, closing the chapter on one of the South Sound’s more charmingly idiosyncratic beer outposts.
