Seattle-based brewery Two Beers Brewing Co. to release its award-winning Fresh Hop IPA as first of the season; now available in 12-ounce cans and draft, featuring fresh Centennial Hops from Yakima.

Two Beers Brewing Co. Fresh Hop IPA will be released Friday, Aug. 19 at The woods tasting room in Seattle. Fresh-hopped beers are brewed during the autumn harvest using hops that have never been dried, so they showcase unique flavors that can’t survive the dehydration process. Two Beers founder, Joel VandenBrink, is currently on his way to Yakima to pick up the fresh Centennial Hops for the Fresh Hop IPA. At 4 p.m. today, he’ll arrive back at the brewery with 40-plud volunteers ready to pick the hops from the vines so Two Beers can start brewing first thing tomorrow morning. This annual tradition is even more exciting as this year Fresh Hop IPA will now be available in 12-ounce cans. New six-pack boxes will be hitting the shelves — as well as draft — beginning Aug. 19 throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska.http://www.twobeersbrewery.com/two-beers-brewings-fresh-hop-ipa-now-in-cans-scheduled-for-release-august-19/

From the promo: A hyper seasonal, Two Beers Brewing’s Fresh Hop IPA is known for its intense hop flavor and unique brewing process, which involves a same-day round trip drive to Yakima, four hours of picking fresh hops off the vines and a 24-hour brewing process. Ringing in at approximately 70 IBUs and 6.2% ABV, Two Beers Brewing’s annual Fresh Hop IPA features a juicy citrus aroma — offering hints of grapefruit and passion fruit — that can be attributed to the fresh Yakima Valley-grown Centennial hops used to create it. Dark straw in color with light caramel malt tones, Fresh Hop resembles an aggressively dry-hopped IPA, but packing the punch and flavor only fresh hops can deliver. In addition to Centennial hops, this beer features locally grown Simcoe, Amarillo, Cascade and experimental hops, helping this popular beer achieve its bright and delightfully bitter flavor.
