THURSDAY, FEB. 16 2017: South Sound events + craft beer …

The Grand Cinema + Peaks and Pints = Jarmusch-y and No-Li-y night

Rhythm & Rye + Fish Tale Brewpub = Uppers and downers

DRIVER THE DRIVER

Written and directed by Jim Jarmusch, at his most Jarmusch-y, Paterson is a film of incredible warmth and humanity; a sweet, gentle celebration of everyday people. Adam Driver plays a bus driver named Paterson, who lives in Paterson, New Jersey. He writes poetry, goes to work and when he comes home, spends time with Laura and their bulldog, Marvin, goes to bed, then wakes up and does it all over again. Nice. Paterson screens at 12:50, 3:25, 6 and 8:35 p.m. in The Grand Cinema.

PREFUNK: What began as Northern Lights Brewing back in 1993 is now the multiple award-winning No-Li Brewhouse on the banks of the Spokane River in downtown Spokane. The brewery that created “Spokane Style” beers and has seen their bottles shipped across the country is also known for its quarterly Small Batch Festivals were its craft beers are infused with different ingredients. The brewers at No-Li love to experiment with flavors. So does Peaks and Pints. As part of our Lodge Meeting with No-Li Brewhouse tonight we’ll be running the brewery’s Wrecking Ball Imperial Stout through a Randall loaded with cocoa nibs, coconut and vanilla, as well as blending the stout with cold brew coffee from Bluebeard Coffee Roasters in Tacoma. Other No-Li craft beers on tap tonight include Jet Star Imperial IPA, Big Juicy IPA, Red White & No-Li Pale Ale and Spin Cycle Red. The Lodge Meeting will also include door prizes, beginning at 6 p.m.

HANGING EMOTIONS

Witness the rise and fall of love first hand at Rhythm & Rye at 8 p.m. A crew of local and regional aerialists is banding together to share with you the stages of love — and the stages of grief — while hanging from the rafters at the downtown Olympia club. Over the course of the evening, peek into the performers’ hearts as they explore attraction, infatuation, denial, anger and other emotions.

PREFUNK: Fish Brewing Co. will release a big, thick American stout infused with a pound and a half of medium roast Columbian coffee beans. Drop by the Fish Tale Brewpub in downtown Olympia from 5-8 p.m. and grab a taste of this pub-only release stout.
