HOLIDAY ART BUS

The iconic Tacoma Art Bus tour, hosted by Duchess of Downtown Tours, is a guided tour that runs on the third Thursday of the month. The evening tour visits various art exhibits throughout Tacoma, and celebrity tour guides, games, prizes, swag and good eats are signatures of the trip. Launching from 805 Pacific Ave. in downtown Tacoma at 6 p.m., the December Art Bus focuses on holiday shopping, parking in front of 253 Collective, Rankos Pharmacy & Gifts, Colors, Pacific Northwest Shop, Compass Rose, Spaceworks Gallery, Artist & Craftsman Supply and ending at Cafe Vincero. Tickets available at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2722223.

PREFUNK: Bremerton’s oldest craft brewery turned 20 this past fall, with the energy of a human the same age. Peaks and Pints is still crunching the numbers but we swear Silver City Brewery released a new craft beer, or resurrected vintage throwback recipes, every three days since January 2016. Makes sense, the busy brewery added a 20th Anniversary series with its MacFarlane’s Scotch Ale hitting the taps Jan. 8, followed by its Deluxe Malt Liquor, in addition to Fat Woody Scotch Ale Limited Series, the return of Ziggy Zoggy Summer Lager and on and on. It also makes sense for Peaks and Pints to celebrate Silver City’s success and awesome craft beers inviting them to our Lodge Meeting at 6 p.m. Silver’s City’s Old Scrooge Ale, Nutcracker Spice Ale, Wonderland Winter Lager, Ridgetop Red and Nice Day IPA will flow from our Western red cedar tap log as door prizes wrapped under our tree are raffled off, including a VIP tour of the brewery for 11 peeps. The Seahawks game will be on our 130-inch screen.

NEW STAR WARS FLICK

The premise of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story takes a single sentence from the original 1977 Star Wars screen crawl that referred to rebel spies stealing the plans for the Death Star and fleshes it out into a 133 minute meditation on (a new) hope, loyalty, and freedom from tyranny that’s now more contemporary than ever. Jones is Jyn Erso, the daughter of Mikkelsen’s Galen, the brains behind the moon-sized planet killer. Recruited by a squabbling Rebel Alliance to lead a mission to discover the whereabouts of the Death Star’s schematics, Jyn and swashbuckling rebel Cassian Andor (Luna) and a breakaway band of renegade rebels leave the politics to the politicians and enter the fray against overwhelming odds. It opens on a lot of screens tonight.

PREFUNK: Light side. Dark side. Choose a side and have some killer brews with Rainier Growlers before the premier of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The South Hill craft beer taproom will have some Star Wars themed beers on tap, a costume contest, raffle and Light Side beers — pFriem Pilsner, Two Beers Day Hike, Firestone Walker Union Jack, Lagunitas Hop Stoopid — and Dark Side beers — Two Beers Fall Line, Lagunitas High Westified Imperial Coffee Stout, Lagunitas Dark Swan Sour Ale, Dogfish Head World Wide Stout and Firestone Walker Wookie Jack — beginning at 6 p.m.

JAZZ HOLIDAY

Earshot Jazz Hall of Famer Greta Matassa performs holiday tunes at 9 p.m. in Rhythm & Rye in downtown Olympia. The mainstream jazz singer’s voice, regarded as one of the best in the business, has a diverse quality. She can sound husky or crisp, ebullient or wailing, girlish or jaded. She recalls Billie Holiday in one phrase and Cleo Laine the next. Her tastes run to composers of the stature of Harold Arlen, Frosty the Snow, Irving Berlin, Hermie the Elf, Rogers and Hart, Heat Miser, Jimmy Van Heusen, Snow Miser, Kurt Weill, George Gershwin, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Billy Strayhorn and Duke Ellington.

PREFUNK: Fish Brewing Company will celebrate the release of two winter beers in its Fish Tale Brewpub from 5-7 p.m. Fish Tale Ales Reel Ales Chocolate Imperial Stout (12%) sports deep, dark roasted coffee/cocoa malt flavors with a slight cacao dryness and bitterness on the finish. Leavenworth Biers Bakke Hill Black Lager has an opaque, black color and a full, chocolaty or coffee flavor with a hint of vanilla.
