The Living Body presents its body of work at The Valley tonight.

TACOMA PREFUNK THURSDAY, JULY 6 2017: Hellbent Brewing and the Living Body

PREFUNK: May 30, 2015, Hellbent Brewing Company opened in Seattle’s Lake City neighborhood. Our love affair with Hellbent began that day as we soaked in sunrays and IBUs sunk in a couch in the brewery’s back parking lot. Good times. It wasn’t until a sample bottle of Dang! Citra IPA made it to our 2016 Thanksgiving dinner that we pledged our undying love. The hops smacked the tryptophan with toasted caramel, bright grapefruit and orange. Dang! It’s a cloudy, full-flavored IPA. Our friends at Hellbent will drop by with a bag full of fresh ingredients and several of their craft beer delights at 6 p.m. That’s right, we’ll infuse Hellbent’s Dang! with fresh ingredients via a Randall. Peaks and Pints, Tacoma

9 P.M. STAND-UP COMEDY SHOWCASE: Laughway House Productions invites you to the first ever “Live From The Swiss Comedy Showcase” at, well, The Swiss Restaurant & Pub. Laughway can’t say enough funny things about headliner Mary Lou Gamba. Joining her will be Mihkel Teemant, Jose Derteano, Levi Manis, Davey Baldwin, Richie Affleje and Jamie Guerriero with host Ben Beckett keeping the flow funny. The Swiss Restaurant & Pub, Tacoma

9 P.M. LIVING BODY: When he was known as “Juffage”, Leeds-based Chicagoan Jeff T. Smith produced sound-art that splices tape-chopping sonic experimentalism with his smart pop voice. Check out his Semicicle album on Spotify. It’s an odd, charming album. Smith, who has dropped the Juffage thing, has a new project, Living Body, featuring longtime collaborators Tom Evans (Vessels) and Katie Harkin (Sky Larkin, Wild Beasts, Sleater-Kinney, Flock of Dimes). The experimental pop group pops into The Valley for a show with Phantom Pharaoh and Lenu. The Valley, Tacoma
