TACOMA PREFUNK SATURDAY, AUG. 19 2017: Oskar Blues Old Chub and beer festivals

PREFUNK: When en Rama opened in downtown Tacoma we knew we had no intention of wearing swimsuits this summer. Yummmm, pasta. So we can drink plenty of canned Oskar Blues’ Old Chub Scottish Style Ale. It’s brewed with copious amounts of crystal and chocolate malts, and a dash of beechwood-smoked malts. The cola-colored beer features a dense, tawny head; a creamy mouthful and hints of raisin are noticeable in the bouquet, even if it is slightly crowded by the strong malt scent and smokiness. On the tongue expect caramel, chocolate and lightly roasted malt. Complex and rich, it finishes with a whisper of smokiness that calls to mind a fine single malt scotch. It’s the ultimate campfire beer. Drop by Peaks and Pints for a pint out of our cooler, or a six-pack for your eclipse camping experience. Peaks and Pints, Tacoma

10 A.M. SOURFEST: Today and tomorrow, E9 Brewery presents its annual Sourfest — a chance to drink top-notch sours from Holy Mountain, De Garde, E9 Brewery, Firestone Walker, The Bruery, Brasserie Trois Dames, Logsdon Farmhouse Ales, Lost Abbey, Rodenbach, Birrificio Del Ducato and others. Engine House No. 9, Tacoma

NOON TO 6 P.M. COLLABORATION FEST: For the second year in a row, the Washington Beer Commission collaborates with the states craft breweries that collaborated on 27 special beers. The beers will be pouring at the Washington Beer Collaboration Fest, while 50 different Washington breweries hug it out. South Lake Union Discovery Center, Seattle

1-8 P.M. TUMWATER ARTESIAN BREWFEST: The “Artesian” in Tumwater Artesian Brewfest refers to the history of artesian water being used in Olympia Beer and the Olympia Brewing Company’s advertising campaign depicting “mythical Artesians” that control the water supply. Olympia beer will be poured from 1-8 p.m. as well as craft beer from 40 Northwest craft breweries plus cider, wine and spirits. Tumwater Valley Golf Course Driving Range, Tumwater
