TACOMA PREFUNK MONDAY, MAY 7 2018: Triplehorn Brink 182 and sea monsters

PREFUNK: Who said pop-punk-ska-IPA was dead? Triplehorn Brewing Co. has released a new experimental Northwest IPA, Brink 182, with stacks of resiny citrus hop aromas and refreshing bitterness. The juicy IPA is slightly hazy in appearance and is highlighted by distinct aromas and flavors of pineapple and grapefruit. Peaks and Pints pours the new Triplehorn treat from our Western red cedar tap log today.

5 P.M. PARKWAY RANDALL: Founders Brewing Co.’s award-winning stouts and IPAs watched in horror as the Grand Rapids, Michigan brewery brewed a watermelon gose. (Insert record scratch.) It took a year’s worth of test batches, but Founders Green Zebra is a thing — a tasty thing. There’s sweet, juicy watermelon flavor up front — real watermelon, not Jolly Rancher watermelon — and a tart, slightly salty finish. Parkway Tavern’s Beerologist Sean Jackson will run Green Zebra through his randle infusion tube full of fresh ingredients today. Will his staff watch in horror as he pours pint after pint wearing a zebra suit?

7 P.M. PACIFIC RIM UPRISING: The Blue Mouse Theatre screens the sequel to the 2013 bots-vs.-sea-monsters epic where said sea monsters are causing trouble again. The monster fights? Yep, they’re pretty dang cool and look great. Why is any of it really happening? Who cares? There are monsters that need punching!
