TACOMA PREFUNK CHRISTMAS EVE 2017: 7 Seas Russian Imperial Stout and The Grinch

The lords have a’lept. The ladies have a’danced. The partridge has ditched the pear tree and has run away with one of the French hens. You spent months planning for Christmas Eve, but do you have any plans? Peaks and Pints has a few ideas.

PREFUNK: When Jack Frost’s nipping at your nose, you have a couple of options: A) nose-warmer or B) craft beer. The nose-warmer is a bad look for most, so enjoy a pint or two at Peaks and Pints today. Yes, Virginia, Peaks and Pints is open all day and all night for sandwiches, growler fills and delicious craft beer in our cooler. We suggest you grab a pint of 7 Seas’ Russian Imperial Stout. It tastes mighty fine.

2 P.M. SEUSSICAL: Everyone, step back! Horton is hatching not an egg, but … a musical? Tacoma Little Theatre presents Seussical off a page, on a stage, without the pain, of drenching rain. Check out their delightful tales of Dr. Seuss featuring The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, The Grinch, Gertrude McFuzz and other unforgettable characters.

4:15 P.M. THE MAN WHO INVENTED CHRISTMAS: Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol gets the sort of origin story normally reserved for superheroes in The Man Who Invented Christmas. Bharat Nalluri’s whimsical comedy/drama wants to have its Christmas cake and eat it, too, by attempting to be both a (highly fictionalized) biographical portrait of Dickens and, simultaneously, a creative spin on the oft-dramatized tale. Catch the flick at The Grand Cinema.

5:30 P.M. FANTASY LIGHTS: The moths are on to something. Lights are awesome. Especially holiday lights. Make tonight the night you check out Fantasy Lights — a South Sound institutions. Take a driving tour of Fantasy Lights at Spanaway Park, where carloads of travelers can see more than 300 stunning displays of lights and imaginative animation over a two-mile stretch of Spanaway Lake Park from 5:30-9 p.m. Tune in to a special holiday radio station for a little holiday music to add to the mood. Christmas Eve would be a nice time to take the family out and see some bright shiny things.
