Portland has never been especially interested in coloring inside the lines. It borrows inspiration from everywhere—coffeehouses, breweries, vineyards, food carts, bicycle culture—and somehow turns the whole glorious mashup into something unmistakably its own. So perhaps it was inevitable that one of Oregon’s largest cideries would look at fresh Northwest apples and think, “These deserve a few interesting friends.”
Since Jeff and Lynda Parrish founded Portland Cider Company in 2013, the cidery has proven that fruit additions don’t have to bury the apple—they can make it more expressive. Concord grapes, passion fruit, guava, blackberries, peaches, lime… each cider begins with fresh Northwest apples and then wanders off in a different direction, returning with stories from somewhere unexpected. Along the way, Portland Cider has grown into one of Oregon’s largest cider producers, earned international recognition, and continued refining a lineup that feels every bit as adventurous as the city whose name it carries.
The Peaks & Pints Wednesday Portland Cider Flight follows four of those delicious detours. We begin with purple nostalgia, drift toward tropical sunshine, veer into brambly Oregon berry country, and finish where every memorable summer evening should—with ripe mango, juicy peach, and one last reminder that apples, given the right company, are capable of just about anything.
Peaks & Pints Wednesday Portland Cider Flight
Portland Cider Concord Grape
5.2% ABV | Concord Grape Cider | Clackamas, Oregon
Nostalgia has a funny way of sneaking into the glass, and this one arrives wearing deep purple hues and the unmistakable aroma of Concord grapes fresh from the vine. Juicy grape richness unfolds first before crisp Northwest apples step in with a bright, semi-sweet finish, creating a lively balance that feels less like revisiting childhood and more like discovering it grew up, moved to Oregon, and developed remarkably good taste.
Portland Cider Passion Orange Guava
6% ABV | Tropical Fruit Hard Cider
A little Hawaiian daydream drifts into Oregon orchard country as passion fruit bursts open with bright tang, guava lends soft tropical sweetness, and juicy orange ties everything together in a citrus-kissed embrace. The cidery keeps fresh-pressed Northwest apples at the center of the experience, giving this island-inspired escape a crisp, refreshing backbone.
Portland Cider Imperial Blackberry Lime
8.4% ABV | Imperial Blackberry Lime Cider
Dark Northwest blackberries settle into the glass with rich, brambly confidence before a vivid streak of fresh lime cuts through like sunlight breaking across the Columbia Gorge after a passing shower. The imperial strength adds welcome depth without overwhelming the fruit, while Portland Cider Company anchors it all with crisp Northwest apples, creating a pour that feels both rugged and radiant — equal parts woodland harvest and summer road trip with the windows rolled down.
Portland Cider Imperial Mango Peach
8.4% ABV | Imperial Tropical Fruit Cider
Ripe mango arrives first with lush tropical swagger before juicy peach eases in beside it, softening the edges with sun-warmed sweetness that feels borrowed from the last perfect day of summer. Northwest apples quietly anchor the experience beneath all that golden fruit, allowing this imperial cider to carry its considerable strength with remarkable balance — like Oregon orchards deciding to book a one-way ticket to the tropics and discovering they rather liked the view.
