Peaks & Pints Friday Irrelevant Beer Flight

Share

Long before Irrelevant Beer occupied its corner of downtown Vancouver, co-founder Mitch Montgomery was experimenting with homebrew while building Relevant Coffee into one of southwest Washington’s favorite gathering places. Along the way he crossed paths with brewer Sebastian Lynch, whose own journey carried him from homebrewing to Trap Door Brewing before returning to Relevant Coffee to help launch its cold brew program. Coffee roasting, beer brewing, fermentation, timing, chemistry, hospitality—it all began to feel less like separate crafts and more like different dialects of the same language. When the neighboring space became available, Montgomery, Lynch, Brian Clemens, Don Walker, and veteran brewer Quin Tinling finally had the opportunity to give that conversation its own address.

The name remains one of craft beer’s best inside jokes: Relevant Coffee. Irrelevant Beer. The wink comes first. The craftsmanship follows immediately behind. Rather than chase a single identity, Irrelevant has become a brewery comfortable wandering between tart Berliners, feather-light lagers, expressive hazy IPAs, razor-sharp West Coast hop bombs, luxurious barrel-aged stouts, and collaborations that celebrate the friendships fueling the Pacific Northwest beer community. The result is less a brewery with a signature style than one with a signature curiosity.

The Peaks & Pints Friday Irrelevant Beer Flight follows that wonderfully unpredictable spirit—from a bright Berliner Weisse and a burger-loving American lager through two distinct expressions of modern IPA before settling into a bourbon-barrel imperial stout built for slow contemplation. Five beers. Five different conversations. One brewery proving that the most relevant thing in craft beer has never been chasing trends—it’s chasing the next great idea.

Irrelevant Beer Let Love In

3.9% ABV | Berliner Weisse | Vancouver, Washington

Some beers don’t arrive to dominate the room. They simply make everyone feel more welcome once they’re there. Delicate wheat softness and lively lemon zest open the experience before bright, refreshing acidity sweeps across the palate with an easy grace that feels both invigorating and wonderfully unhurried. The feather-light body keeps every sip buoyant, allowing the classic Berliner Weisse character to shine without excess or distraction. Equal parts sunshine, conversation, and quiet optimism, Let Love In proves that sometimes the gentlest invitation is the one most worth accepting.

Irrelevant Beer Gold Shines Light

4.5% ABV | American Light Lager

Gold has never needed to shout to catch the sun. Brewed with GoonBurger, the burger crew inside the Irrelevant Beer taproom, to celebrate its fifth anniversary, this American light lager opens with soft grain sweetness before wafer-thin cracker malt and delicate floral hops drift across a remarkably lean body, the addition of potato sugar lending an almost weightless crispness to every sip. The finish arrives clean and thirst-quenching, quietly sweeping the palate clear and making another bite seem like the most natural decision in the world. Sometimes the finest collaborations are simply two crafts elevating each other, one delicious mouthful at a time.

Irrelevant Beer Toward The Within

6.2% ABV | Hazy India Pale Ale

Not every expedition points toward a mountaintop. Some quietly circle inward, discovering unexpected landscapes beneath familiar skies. Fresh-cut pear greets the nose before lush waves of guava, pineapple, and grapefruit drift across a pillowy haze, each layer unfolding with unhurried confidence. Krush, Citra, and Dolcita hops weave tropical abundance into a silky body that remains vibrant without becoming heavy, rewarding curiosity more than spectacle. Brewed with Varietal Beer, this collaboration suggests that the most interesting journeys occasionally begin by simply closing your eyes and paying closer attention.

Irrelevant Beer Leave Home

6.6% ABV | West Coast India Pale Ale

Every worthwhile adventure begins with the same deceptively simple decision: open the door. Grapefruit peel, ripe mango, blueberry, and bright citrus leap from the taster glass before Mosaic’s resinous backbone settles in with the confidence of a well-worn trail. A lean malt foundation keeps the spotlight squarely on the hops, while a firm, polished bitterness carries the flavors toward a brisk, invigorating finish.

Irrelevant Beer Eidetic

13% ABV | Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout

After two patient years in Bull Run bourbon barrels, this imperial stout unfolds in slow, luxurious layers of toasted marshmallow, vanilla, charred oak, and rich bourbon before a gently boozy plum aroma drifts through the experience like the last pages of a favorite novel. The immense body carries every nuance with quiet confidence, allowing sweetness, roast, and barrel character to settle into remarkable harmony. Long after the final sip, the flavors linger with startling clarity, proving that some stories deserve to be remembered exactly as they happened.
