Peaks & Pints Beer Flight: Faction Brewing

Share

In September 2013, Rodger Davis and Claudia Pamparana opened Faction Brewing in Alameda, California. Davis has been a part of the West Coast craft beer scene for over 20 years. Originally a Southern California native, Davis received his certificate in Brewing Science from Siebel Institute of Technology and the World Brewing Academy in Chicago. Before opening Faction, he was the head brewer at Drake’s Brewing in San Leandro and Triple Rock Brewery in Berkeley. Rodger enjoys drinking Underbergs, repeatedly listening to Africa by Toto, and giving people the middle finger. Pamparana, Faction’s operations director, grew up in Southern California and received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Boston University. She spent many years as the face behind the bar and manager at 21st Amendment Brewery in San Francisco. Claudia enjoys landscaping, drinking Penske, and telling Rodger to knock it off. Today, Peaks & Pints presents a flight of Faction beer called Peaks & Pints Beer Flight: Faction Brewing.

Peaks & Pints Beer Flight: Faction Brewing

Faction New American Standard

5.2% ABV

A collaboration with There Does Not Exist Brewery in San Luis Obispo, this West Coast pilsner is crisp, clean, and packed with Mosaic Dynaboost, Nelson, Simcoe, Columbus Cryo, and Krush Cryo hops. It’s smooth, crushable, and just the right amount of hoppy to keep things interesting.

Faction Bergs of a Feather

5.8% ABV

This hoppy black lager, brewed with Riip Brewing, takes a classic schwarzbier and flips the script. Traditional German Noble hops on the hotside keep it true to style, but then Faction hits it with a heavy dry hop of Nelson, Krush Cryo, and Mosaic for a fresh, hoppy kick.

Faction The Penske File

5.8% ABV

As incorporated in the Seinfeld episode “The Barber,” the Penske File is the project George is given to work on in a job he may or may not have. Unsure of whether he has the job, he is equally uncertain what work he must do on this file. Thus, to refer to something as the “Penske File” denotes being given a task, not knowing what to do with it, but going along with it as if you do. Faction’s version of the Penske File is a West Coast pale ale dry hopped with Mosaic and Ekuanot for hints of pineapple and pine with a pleasantly bitter finish. Faction knew what to do, making the title confusing.

Faction Spring IPA

6.8% ABV

Crisp and bright, dry-hopped with Mosaic and Ekuanot, this West Coast IPA offers big grapefruit, floral, pine notes, and dankness.

Faction Jugdish IPA

6.9% ABV

This West Coast IPA brings a mouthful with Nelson and Strata hops, delivering big citrus, dankness, and just the right amount of bite. It’s clean, crisp, and hitting.
