From Rogue ales Instagram contest winner to Sam Calagione on a pogo stick, new beer releases to a beautiful night shot of Tacoma, Peaks and Pints Instagram Outsider returns today with a photo essay of our favorite Instagram posts from the past week. Be sure to keep tagging us @peaksandpints for your chance to be featured on Peaks and Pints Instagram Outsider. And, please, wash your damn hands; wear your damn mask. (Over your mouth and nose. And stay away from people.) Until we meet back here again next week, cheers to you!

So tomorrow, August 16, marks 13 years in business. The irony of that number is not lost considering current events…BUT, we are incredibly grateful & humbled to still be at it. Thanks to our amazing staff who we cannot say enough about, and thanks to all of you pals out there who keep the lights on for us. Normally we would love to have a huge gathering to celebrate with all of you who have helped us get here, but right now is not about gathering. We can still focus on the positives, though: we put a Anniversary shirt design up in our online merch store (www.redhottacoma.com), which will go live at midnight tonight. We have an AMAZING, NEW house IPA that we will carry for the next year coming out next week from our pals @e9brewingco (we will be making a separate post about very soon). We have some new events coming that are geared more towards takeout orders so that everyone can participate. We’ll also have new menu choices that we were working on back in March, as well as since we’ve reopened. Thanks again to everyone that has, is, or will be part of this crazy ride with us. We’re all trying to make the best of weird situation, so thank you for riding along #trh253 #theredhot #trh #tacoma #tacomabeer #tacomabars #craftbeer #craftbeerhotdogsnojerks #ontapTRH #ontaptac #ontaptacoma #6thAveTacoma #6thAveDistrict #instabeer #beerstagram #hotdog #hotdogs #sausage #tacomaeats #tacomafood #eeeeeats #tacomawa #craftbeer #cityofdestiny #trhtestkitchen #eater #munchies #hotdoglovers #instafood #foodstagram #hotdogsofinstagram

One of the production guys, Justin, hasn’t shaved in 2 years. As a little birthday gift, we shaved years off his age.

Do you remember “cup of dirt”? The delightful grade school dessert of chocolate pudding with oreo crumbles and gummy worms in it? What was your favorite childhood treat? For a lot of us, it seems the adult version is these decadent stouts ?. . I randomly thought of it a bit back and in true M&M fashion we decided that we definitely needed to make it. . As you’ve seen in my stories we’re all about that #earnyourbeer #earnyourbooze lifestyle yet at the same time we’re all about embracing the inner kid as much as possible. We have to be adults enough as it is and it’s fun to find ways to be a kid again… even if it’s just a silly dessert. As Avery gets older i definitely can’t wait to create more of these moments with him too! . I’ve been trying to try as many #blackisbeautiful beers as I can but i have to say @alvaradostreetbrewery is seriously ?. This pairing was so rich but we just embraced it for all its sweet goodness it like the adults we are ?. . #beerpairing #dessertfordinner #bigkids #enjoylife #whatssowrongwithbeinghappy #beerblogger #craftbrewed #supportyourlocalbrewery #imperialstout #craftbeercommunity #craftbeerculture #nevergrowup #beerme #beerthirty #ohtobeyoungagain #beergram #instabeer #monterey #montereybay #montereyblogger

Our sixth in-state collaboration for our 10th anniversary is with Pelican Brewing Co, a true institution of the Oregon Coast and one of the luminaries of the Oregon beer world. For the past quarter century, Pelican has been the standard bearer for excellence in Oregon beer. With more GABF and World Beer Cup wins than any other brewery in the state, they have produced refined, clean, eminently drinkable, delicious, and exactingly precise beer under the leadership of longtime brewmaster Darron Welch. We’ve managed to get a few pro tips and secrets out of him over the years, but seriously, Darron’s influence on how we’ve developed our approach to designing, evaluating, and improving our beer cannot be overstated. We were thrilled that Darron agreed to collaborate with us as part of this commemorative project, and we chose to challenge ourselves to develop a new, experimental-leaning beer that was also approachable– something innovative for summer drinking. Whirligig is the result of these efforts. It’s a satiating, unfiltered wheat beer that harkens to classic summer beers from great breweries worldwide. It is brewed with a fruity yeast strain and gets a jolt of bright citrusy tartness from a large addition of both orange and rhubarb late in fermentation. We bet it’s been a blue moon since you’ve had a new wheat beer this delicious, nuanced, and refreshing! Available now in our pubs and local independent grocers. . . . . #breakside #breaksidebrews #breaksidebrewery #seekandenjoy #cheers #supportlocal #drinklocal #travelportland #supportlocalbusiness #independent #employeeowned #beersnob #beer #breweryoftheyear #explore #pnw #collab

Meet your new favorite surf couple: Al Ciske and Sandy Smith. If you haven’t met them in person, you’ve probably been lucky enough to bump into a couple like them. They’re glowing, vibrant, almost vibrating with love for what they do. They probably have weird tan lines, but you won’t notice that, because you’ll be too busy listening to their stories. They’ve surfed together in Panama, Puerto Rico, El Salvador. Al sang and played lead guitar in a number of different punk rock bands; Sandy grew up skiing and snowboarding with her rough-and-tumble brothers. They have an 8-year-old Australian Shepherd named Benny, who they love to walk on the beach while sipping a cold can of Updrift. And, above all else: they live and breathe saltwater. ~ Read the full story of Al and Sandy’s adventure at the link in bio #UPDRIFTADVENTURE ~ Adventurers @nmeshapes + @sandyjsmith Photos by @alexandrapallas + Writing by @charlotteaustin
