Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Trillium Brewing

Share

Jean-Claude Tetreault and his wife, Esther, were expanding their “homebrew brand” with labels, more sophisticated equipment and eventually, homebrew at their wedding, when they decided to go pro. In March of 2013, perhaps dazed from property-hunting fatigue, the couple signed a lease on a space in Boston’s historic Fort Point neighborhood with the desire to create a lifestyle and experiences through the lens of a modern New England farmhouse-inspired brewery. Launched with three employees and the support of family, friends, and community, their Trillium Brewing located on Congress Street has grown to a team of more than 300. Today, Trillium operates a production brewery and taproom in Canton, a greenhouse-inspired brewery and taproom in Fenway, a beer garden and brewery on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, and, of course, a brewery, taproom, and restaurant in Fort Point. Peaks & Pints is thrilled to offer a flight of Trillium beer — a flight we’re calling Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Trillium Brewing.

Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Trillium Brewing

Trillium Trailside IPA

6.8% ABV

Trailside IPA is a fine-tuned take on the classic citrus-meets-tropical Trillium profile. Brewed with Strata and Citra hops, fresh-peeled clementine, tangelo, and candied Meyer lemon notes are complemented by overripe pineapple, mango nectar, and fuzzy peach. Its juice-forward with an underlying ruby red grapefruit bitterness.

Trillium The Fens

7% ABV

The first IPA brewed for Trillium’s Emerald Necklace series, The Fens is hopped with Mosaic and Galaxy for intense notes of fresh stone fruit, mango juice, pineapple, and pine. It’s pillowy soft with a creamy mouthfeel and dry finish.

Trillium DDH The Riverway

7% ABV

The second beer in Trillium’s Emerald Necklace series takes you to The Riverway, a 34-acre park that serves as a border between Boston and neighboring Brookline. It’s double dry hopped with Citra and Mosaic for notes of orange sherbet, Meyer lemon, and juicy peach. Expect a gentle sweetness that never nears cloying embraced by a refined bitterness rounding out each sip.

Trillium Vicinity

8% ABV

Originally brewed for Row 34, Trillium’s favorite Fort Point oyster bar and craft-beer purveyor, Vicinity is a hazy double IPA with heavy citrus aromas of pineapple, orange flesh and mango dance on the nose, as well as the palate. The Pilsner malt provides a medium body and wraps up each sip with a slight balancing bitterness.

Trillium Big Bird

8.5% ABV

Trillium’s “small birds” are a series of pale ales experimenting with combinations of adjunct grains and hop varieties to create seasonal, sessionable pale ales. Big Bird is a continuation of some of these experiments in an amped-up hazy double IPA form. One of the hoppiest beers they’ve made to date, Big Bird features a new signature hop for an intense nose that zaps the senses with aromas of lime, overripe papaya, and pithy citrus. Flavors of pineapple and tangy grapefruit are balanced by a light body and dank, resinous finish.
