Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Steeplejack Beer Spins

Share

In 2019, Brody Day and Dustin Harder converted a 1909 church on the corner of Northwest Broadway and 24th Street in Portland into Steeplejack Beer, a brewery, taproom, and restaurant that still looks like a church — a very cool church. The building’s stained-glass windows loom above the brewery’s tanks and bar, and pews serve as banquettes for the wooden tables at the center of the space. The women-led brewing team mainly brews at 30-barrel production brewery in Hillsboro. In celebration of today’s Record Store Day, Steeplejack Beer Sales Director Tim Ensign will be in the house with his beer and vinyl. That’s right, Ensign is also known as DJ Big Tim Slade, and he’ll spin from 5 to 8 p.m. at Peaks & Pints. In conjunction, Peaks presents an all-day flight of Steeplejack Beer — a flight we’re calling Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Steeplejack Beer Spins.

Steeple Snacks: Frank’s Sparkling Ale

2.8% ABV

Steeplejack kicked off their Steeple Snacks low-ABV beer series with Frank’s Sparkling Ale, a tasty small beer with notes of sweet shortbread and Cashmere hops. It’s spritzy with just a little sweetness, but still finishes clean.

Steeplejack Sawyer

4.4% ABV

A classic table beer brewed with terroir-driven Pilsner malt, oats, and wheat, and balanced with whole cone hops for floral flavor and creamy texture.

Steeplejack Harder Day Imperial Red Ale

7.6% ABV

Steeplejack’s Harder Day Imperial Red Ale grabbed bronze at the 2024 Oregon Beer Awards. It pours dark red with pine sap, crushed needles, caramel, citrus, freshly baked bread, tangelos, and toasted bread crust on the nose, followed by lemons, orange zest, and pomelo and finished with a resinous hit of all things pine.

Steeplejack Hazy Pale Ale

5.4% ABV

Unfiltered and juicy, their Hazy Pale Ale is brewed with El Dorado, Simcoe, Crystal, and Meridian hops for juicy, sweet citrus, and Hi-Chew notes over a soft malty body.

Steeplejack Northwest IPA

6.6% ABV

Steeplejack Northwest IPA is brewed with Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic, and El Dorado for a light caramel, berry, mango, and fruity notes on the nose leading to lightly bready caramel malt, orange peel and subtle grapefruit flavors, plus a moderate, dry bitterness.
