Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Home Run Derby

Share

Major League Baseball’s 2023 Home Run Derby is set for tonight at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park. Headlining the eight-player field is New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso, a two-time Home Run Derby winner (2019 and 2021). Alonso is looking to join Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. as the only three-time champions in Derby history. Also participating in this year’s bracket are Randy Arozarena (Rays), Mookie Betts (Dodgers), Adolis García (Rangers), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Blue Jays), Luis Robert Jr. (White Sox), Julio Rodríguez (Mariners), and Adley Rutschman (Orioles). In celebration of the 5 p.m. big fly fest, Peaks & Pints presents an all-day, in-house Home Run Derby themed beer flight that we’re calling Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Home Run Derby. Swing by to watch the action while enjoying this five-beer flight. Cheers!

Peaks and Pints Beer Flight: Home Run Derby

Structures Junior (2023) Amarillo and Simcoe

4.5% ABV, can

Long before contemporary sluggers thrilled us with their prodigious power during All-Star Home Run Derby competitions, one name towered above the rest in the annals of Derby lore: Ken Griffey Jr. No one has won as many Derby titles as Griffey’s three. The combination of his immaculate swing, his ability to deliver under pressure, his status as the most exciting player in the game and, of course, that backwards cap, made him a Derby legend the likes of which we haven’t seen since. Structures Brewing brewed a beer in Griffey’s honor, “Junior.” The hazy pale ale is brewed with Amarillo and Simcoe for vibrant tangelos and honeydew melon flavor.

Great Notion Elite Lager

5% ABV, can

The best thing about the All-Star Game is right there in the name: Everybody’s a star. There isn’t a player you’ll watch on Tuesday night who isn’t one of the most elite players in baseball right now. That’s why they’re here in Seattle. Great Notion Elite Lager is brewed for the elite, albeit for the Elite Lager Shotgun Club. Every Friday, Great Notion Brewing’s brewhouse shotguns a fresh lager from a Portland area brewery together. This helles is made with Pilsner and Munich malts with Hersbrucker hops for a clean and bready lager with spicy hop notes, and, of course, crushable.

E9 Brewing Believe, Achieve, Succeed

6.7% ABV, can

The mental game in baseball is just as important as the physical game. Players need to be dedicated to their craft to be successful. The mental game can help players overcome obstacles and perform at their best when it matters most. By being dedicated to the mental game, players can put themselves in a position to succeed both on and off the field. E9 Brewing in Tacoma knows this. “Sometimes if you could Believe It, You can Achieve it. If you Achieve it, you’ll Succeed it!” states E9 Brewing regarding their Believe, Achieve, Succeed IPA. “We … Double Dry Hopped it with one of the Raddest Fish Hops ANCHOVY from our Best of Friends, Fast Fashion. Expect some huge notes of Piney Watermelon Rines! We then followed it up with some of the best select lot of Motueka we’ve got for some Lemon Lime Mojito Aromas. Then to enhance the Anchovy and Motueka by using one of the best enhancing products on the market, CRYO POP that will increase all the Best Tropical and Citrus notes. SO, BELIEVE ACHIEVE SUCCEED! Sometimes you just got to suck it up buttercup. JUST DRINK THE BEER IT’S DELICIOUS!”

Fort George Fields of Green (YAHTZEE)

7.6% ABV, can

Since the Inaugural Game on July 15, 1999, T-Mobile Park has gained a reputation locally, regionally, and nationally as a terrific setting for baseball and a great place for baseball fans. T-Mobile Park’s playing surface is a custom designed state-of-the-art field of green. It features a specially designed drainage system and a custom blend of four kinds of Kentucky bluegrass and two kinds of perennial rye grass to provide the optimal playing surface for the athletes, the retractable roof, and the Northwest climate. Fort George’s Fields of Green is an exploration of hop-perceptions, pushing the limits of your lupulin receptors. This periodic IPA release, always evolving, has landed at Peaks and Pints. The latest batch, Codename: Yahtzee, is a triumphantly juicy hazy IPA, double dry-hopped with Mosaic, Citra, and Waimea. Loads of Citra Cryo add a blast of mango and lemon.

With a loaded field of sluggers ready to tear through the marine layer at T-Mobile Park in Seattle and no shortage of intriguing storylines, the 2023 edition of MLB’s annual long-ball competition has the potential to be one of the best in recent memory. No doubt we’ll see many slow-motion replays tonight. Therefore, we cap off this in-house Home Run Derby beer flight with Oakshire Brewing’s Life In Slow Motion.
