Keep It Wild with Schilling Cider at Peaks & Pints
Ah, October. Playoff Baseball. Fresh hops. Lederhosen. And, thanks to Schilling Hard Cider, October is also National Cider Month. Established in 2019 by Schilling Cider, the Washington-based cider company with Sasquatch as a mascot, Peaks & Pints joins the National Cider Month celebration hosting several Schilling Cider events in October, including a kick-off party with Washington Wild Thursday, Oct. 3, at our craft beer and cider lodge in Tacoma’s Proctor District
Last year, Schilling ran a campaign called “Keep It Wild” with Oregon Wild and Washington Wild that raised money to help keep wild spaces intact. The campaign raised $20,000 for these charities. Schilling and Washington Wild have teamed up again this year. Since Peaks & Pints has partnered with Washington Wild many times, we’re asking people to “round-up” their beverage and food bill at Peaks with the proceeds benefiting Washington Wild’s mission to protect wild lands and rivers in Washington state through advocacy, education and civic engagement.
“National Cider Month has evolved into a cherished industry tradition, exemplifying the power of collaboration,” Colin Schilling, CEO and co-founder of Schilling Hard Cider said in a media release. “As we mark our fifth year, we’re committed to expanding this celebration nationwide, illuminating local cideries and elevating the entire industry. Together, we’re enhancing the cider experience and inspiring everyone to explore the incredible flavors our craft has to offer.”
In 1881, Colin Schilling’s great-great-grandfather, August, founded the Schilling Spice Company in San Francisco, with a goal of bringing pure, natural spices to everyone at a fair price. Today, at Schilling Hard Cider, August’s core values are carried forward and paired with innovative cider-making techniques to produce quality and complex hard cider.
In conjunction with this year’s celebration, Peaks & Pints will tap Schilling Cider’s new Berrymassive, which is part of their Excelsior imperial ciders. The semi-sweet, 8.4-percent ABV cider blends blueberries, blackberries, and fresh-pressed apples with a hint of bergamot.
Keep It Wild with Schilling Cider at Peaks & Pints Kick-off Party will run 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, with cool swag plus the Schilling Sasquatch will make an appearance.
