Peaks & Pints Job Carr E9 Brewing Flight

Share

Some evenings have an amusing way of refusing to disappear. About a month ago, Peaks & Pints was set to host a Job Carr Cabin Museum fundraiser featuring E9 Brewing—a neighborhood gathering where great Tacoma beer would help support one of Tacoma’s oldest stories. Then life intervened. The museum postponed the event, calendars shifted, and the taps quietly waited their turn.

That turn arrives Saturday.

From 5 to 8 p.m., Peaks & Pints will donate 20 percent of all dine-in purchases to the Job Carr Cabin Museum, helping preserve the modest log cabin where Tacoma’s first permanent non-Indigenous settler planted roots in 1864 and, in many ways, gave the city its first chapter. The timing even overlaps the final hour of the Proctor Wine Walk, making it one of those delightfully Tacoma afternoons when neighborhoods, history, wine, beer, and good intentions all seem to wander into the same conversation.

While tomorrow isn’t an official E9 tap takeover, it feels only fitting to let one of Tacoma’s most adventurous breweries help mark the occasion. E9 has never been content to inhabit a single brewing lane, happily drifting from luminous lagers and expressive Belgian ales to hop-forward explorations and velvety dark beers with the quiet confidence of a brewery that trusts curiosity as much as tradition. The Peaks & Pints Saturday E9 Brewing Flight celebrates that restless spirit—five distinctly different pours, all brewed just a few miles away, and all raising a glass to a city that’s always been at its best when neighbors show up for one another.

E9 Brewing Saturday Sunshine

5.8% ABV | Dortmunder Export Lager | Tacoma, Washington

Saturday has a peculiar way of slowing the clock, and this luminous lager seems perfectly content to help. Golden Pilsner malt, supported by touches of Vienna and Munich, unfolds with fresh-baked bread, honeyed grain, and a whisper of toasted crust before noble Hallertau, Spalt, and Tettnang hops brighten the journey with herbal spice, meadow flowers, and a pleasantly brisk bitterness. Every sip feels polished without becoming precious, balancing quiet malt richness with a crisp finish that lingers like the first warm patch of sunshine breaking through a familiar Tacoma morning.

E9 Brewing SJ2 Project

6.7% ABV | Belgian Blonde Ale

Some collaborations feel like business. This one feels like old friends finding the same rhythm again. Brewed with former E9 brewer—and now E9 taproom manager (brewer)—Sean Jackson, the beer unfolds with honey-kissed malt, fresh country bread, ripe pear, golden apple, and a gentle flourish of white pepper and clove carried by expressive Belgian yeast. A whisper of citrus brightens the edges before the finish glides away clean and dry, leaving warmth without weight. Equal parts homecoming and celebration, it quietly reminds us that some of the finest stories aren’t about starting over—they’re about returning exactly where you belong.

E9 Brewing Krazy World

5.4% ABV | American Pale Ale

Sanity has its place, but it rarely smells this inviting. Enigma, Cashmere, Nelson Sauvin, and Dolcita conspire to scatter aromas of white grape, ripe peach, melon, citrus, and tropical fruit across a lean, lively frame that refuses to carry an ounce more malt than necessary. A gentle current of pine and measured bitterness gathers everything into focus, keeping the exuberance pointed in the right direction instead of letting it drift into chaos. The result is a pale ale that finds remarkable harmony inside delightful disorder, proving that the best adventures rarely arrive with a sensible itinerary.

E9 Brewing Quality Control

7% ABV | West Coast IPA

Precision has never been the enemy of pleasure. Bright orange peel, ruby grapefruit, pine resin, and delicate wildflowers step confidently from the glass, each finding its place atop a lean malt foundation that knows better than to steal the spotlight. The bitterness arrives with purpose—firm, invigorating, and beautifully measured—guiding the citrus and resin toward a finish that leaves the palate refreshed and ready for another encounter.

E9 Brewing The Bearer Nitro

6% ABV | American Porter

Darkness, when handled properly, has impeccable manners. A cascading nitro pour settles into velvet, revealing layers of bittersweet chocolate, fresh espresso, roasted malt, and faint caramel before a subtle thread of smoke drifts through like the last note from a late-night blues set. The creamy texture invites leisurely contemplation, yet the finish remains pleasantly dry, allowing the roast to linger without ever becoming heavy-handed. Every glass feels like settling into a well-worn leather chair while the rain taps the windows and the outside world quietly agrees to wait.
