Status:
Still thriving in Tumwater’s Deschutes Landing Building, where brewer Rob Horn and co-founder/wife Kelly Horn have transformed their humble one-barrel origins into a full-on 10-barrel production creature. Triceratops beers now roam wild across the South Sound in bottles and on tap, spreading lupulin joy and coffee-stout bliss with every pour.

The Specialty:
East Coast-style ales viewed through a West Coast lens—juicy, hazy, hop-forward, but with that Pacific Northwest pith and spine. Think less haze for the sake of haze and more “sunrise over Mount Rainier with a citrus twist.” This is craft beer with intentionality, flavor, and just enough bite to remind you that the dino still has teeth.

Five Notable Brews (and all of them bite gently):

  • Sammy IPA – A bright lemon drop hop showcase named after one of the brewery’s three namesakes. Tart, zippy, sunshine in a pint glass.

  • Molly IPA – Featuring the elusive Peeko hop, a soft citrus and floral charmer brewed with balance and backbone.

  • Hawthorne’s Coffee Milk Stout – A smooth, creamy dose of cold brew magic, where coffee toddy meets roasted malt in a low-ABV dream.

  • Ben Pale Ale – Their gateway pale: light, crisp, just bitter enough to remind you where it came from.

  • Rhythm and Rye IPA – A spicy nod to the Olympia bar that helped put them on the map. Juicy hops meet rye malt for a dancing, prancing mouthful of groove.

Fun Facts (a fossil record of delightful tidbits):
🦖 Triceratops Brewing is named for Rob and Kelly’s three horned children—no, not literally horned, but you get it.
🎬 They donate a keg of their Craftsman Copper to the Olympia Film Society with every batch, proving beer and indie cinema were always meant to be together.
🏗 In fall 2016, they leveled up to a 10-barrel system and took up residence in the Deschutes Landing Building in Tumwater, where things got real, and really delicious.

Philosophy:
Brew what you love. Name it after your kids. Give some away for a good cause. Stay independent, stay excellent, and make sure your stout tastes like breakfast and your IPA tastes like a memory from your best summer.

Triceratops is the kind of brewery that moves quietly and leaves deep footprints. Find them. Follow them. Sip slowly.
